New Computer Need COMPLETE directions to get back to V4.091m
#1

I am going to be updating the ol' computer soon and will need to reinstall the full monty.
As each mod came out I installed it (them) and got my game up to V4.091m and have kept every file / download on an external hard drive.
When the new machine gets here I will need to start adding the files / mods to my Pacific Fighters to get "back" but have no idea which comes first and what to do with my files and folders.

Could someone PLEASE post a SIMPLE to understand step-by-step to bring me back from the basic Pacific Fighters install to v4.091m??

I have all the new Korea maps and mods installed but how to do that is (mostly) still in my rusty memory bank.
Getting to the point where it is time to install the new Korea "stuff" is my problem.
I freely admit that "complete install for dummies" should be the topic. I am NOT a computer guru. Just ask any of the guys in my squad.
I sincerely appreciate any assistance you fellas might supply.

if yo uhave the disc space on a eksternal or internal hard drive then just copy the whole gameinstall to your other drive then when you have updated your pc simply copy it back.
Then just make a shortcut to the desktop for the il2 switcher (if you use it) or your game exe.

Look at the UI update pg here on AAA

and this is the best way to start "Installation Warnings:
1. If you are installing this package over a fresh installation of the IL-2 1946 DVD, you must first patch the game to 4.08m.
2. If you have IL-2 installed, Copy your current IL-2 1946 game folder and rename the new folder. Next, Delete the FILES and MODS folders. The new install will copy 4.08 files allowing any Direct 2 Drive user to be compatible with the mod.
3. If you have the unified installer 1.0, move the folder named FILES and MODS folder from your modded game to another location for safe keeping.
more on that pg to read but I did this for 3 of my installs and the just add the new maps one at a time to get up to what is not in the 1.1.1 UI and the same with all the new aircraft one at a time running the game each time before going on to the next install also remember you do not need to do the AC installer for some of the older aircraft that may show a version in the DL older than 3.8 a lot to be added to the ini files so do go slow and always back up a working copy for safe keeping

just go slow and do read all the readme's

Errr... If you get the new machine, connect it to the network and copy the IL2 folder from one machine to the other? Or don't you want to have it like that?

[EDIT]Too slow and multiple tabs. Doh!

Osudog;
I tried a search for "UI update with no success.
Would you be so kind as to include the link to it?

Start by installing the original game from DVD --- v4.07
If using Vista install to c:\Game\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 ---- not Program Files folder
Patch with the official UBI patch to v 4.08 --- Do not use the UBI/1C 4.09 patch

Now use only the AAA mods starting with UI 1.1
(The link is inoperative)

then the 1.1 patch
(The link is inoperative)

That's it. Start the game and you will see it load up as v4.09b1m modded.
Quit the game.

Make a shortcut on desktop to IL2 Version Switcher.exe
You will find this in the root folder of the game

Click on the short cut to quickly switch between game versions, essential for online use.

If you add more mods only do manual installations ---- see Cirx Guides
Backup any files which will be overwritten.
Installing the latest Aircraft Installer files does not affect online compatibility.
Nor does installing new aircraft not included in UI 1.1
Keep a note of all non UI 1.1 mods and maps added since you will likely have to uninstall these when updates to the Unified Installer are released.
