Could be bad connection between the two pieces. Sometimes you need to unplug the Stick part to make it auto calibrate. In your case seems to be a half unplugged connector or bad connector.

I agree, and just for the sake of it, blow into the holes to clear any dust out before plugging it back in.

Now I am going to buy a new connecter to check if the trouble is from that. Thanks for advice

Lucky you. I had my X 52 sent to the shop for repairs TWO times. Then, finally when it broke down for the third time, I had it replaced. All of that happened during the first 8 months of use. Now, the new one works fine, but still sometimes the axes go astray.

Had mine for 3 years and counting, still works as well as the day I bought it. I never had any problems with it. Smile

You were a bit unlucky there I think

For what it is worth, I have a tip that works for me when I have experienced the "flashing light" syndrome in the X-52 stick.

I use XP SPIII and I have this happen approximately 50% of the time after I do a cold start up

I used to unplug the USB cable and recalibrate, but I noticed that if I just go to the shutdown screen and select the "standby" mode, the stick comes back to full functionality (and with steady lights) when the system comes back out of standby.

This only takes a few seconds to perform and I don't have to recalibrate anything.

I don't know why this works and I don't know if it would help on Vista or Win 98 systems, but it works on my X-52 setup and saves me a lot of aggravation.
