Finnished adjusting pivots, and gears. I will add anthenas and interior for the cockpits, then unwrap it.
Then the skin will be a tricky one... will take a week or two (speaking by experinece). Stay tunned! Big Grin

Oh and a question about the gunner. Most of the pictures i saw the rear gunner has no guns. how is that? I mean, they only used gunners in combas situation? I read that the RB-45s don't use gunners over the mig alley too... wierd isn't it?

Look at these pages for general info. The B-45A had 2x.50cal M.3 guns, the B-45C had 2x.50cal M.7 guns, and the RB-45C had 2x.50cal M.7 guns. On the RB-45C, sometimes the position of gunner was removed but the guns remained and were controlled by the pilot via toggle switch and were set on the ground to fire either 45 degrees up or 45 degrees down.

Question:

I've noticed there is an escape door for the rear gunner, and there must be ejection seats for the pilots, but what about the bombardier? His positin is very close to the main door where the pilots and the bombardier enteres the plane... Although the bombardier canopy looks jettisonable...

And I quote from that site I gave you about the Backbreaker, "...future B-45s would be equipped with wind deflectors, placed in front of the escape doors from which the other 2 crew members (bombardier-navigator and tail gunner) would have to bail out in case of an emergency..." I hope that helps. Anything else you have questions about? Oh yeah, here's some pics of those areas so you can model it:

Im pretty sure, that the gunner had that escape door to use in emergency, and not that door in the bottom of the plane, where he goes in.

and a quote that i read: "It differed from the XB-45 in featuring improved ejection seats for the pilot and co-pilot and had safer emergency exits for the bombardier/navigator and the tail gunner."

I'm sure i found the safer exit for the tail gunner, and i probably found the "safer" exit for the navigator to:

If you look at this image the top part of the plane between the cockpit and the navigators glass canopy, there is a "door", i guess it is large enough to leave the plane, also i've noticed, that "door" were kept on the RB-45 version... What do you think.

I don't know. If you look at this picture of the XB-45, you don't see that door. So you might be right...

You asked about pictures of the bomb-bay earlier and I told you I couldn't find any. Well, I still can't but I found this picture of the inside:

I also found a whole bunch of really cool pics that get up close and personal with the B-45 if you are interested. I will be away from the computer over the weekend but I can get them posted around Monday if you wish...

As you may have noticed, the last six are decal sheets. They are from the 1:48 Collect Aire kit of the Tornado.

It's a pleasure to help... I can't model anything on the computer for the life of me, but I can research birds to no ends. I love aviation and this is my contribution, thanks for your appreciation... If there's anything else I can help with let me know and I hope that at least one of these pics is useful.[/img]

Wow! amazed again as usual! Great findings!

And some questions:

I've noticed the two "lamps" on the front of the fuel tank, are there landing lights? And another questions, where the wingtipligths and other navigation lights located?

And some updates, finally i've finished the tailgun, most of the uwv mapping, puting together a basic skin (will be a "full" detailed skin later). Internals for cockpits comes next, and the lights. I hope i can show someting tomorrow!

On the wing-tip tanks, you have the navigation lights. The landing lights are located between the two intakes for the port engines. You'll see the housing for them really well in the first photo on my last post.

Well the next few days i'll improve my skin like adding panel lines, internal parts, internals for the modell too, then i'll start the damage modell.

Oh, question! What kind of ejection seat do the B-45C have? Pictures and blueprints are very welcomed, thanks!

Any plans to do more variants with different noses? It's looking great so far Smile
