Timeout when connecting
#1

Hello guys.

So, I ocasionally host a server for me and my friends to do some dogfighting. It works all well, everybody can join. Then I told another 2 friends about il2, so they bought it. I opened a server, everybody joined. Except those 2 guys. They can't join anyone's server, but when one of them hosts a server, only they can join it.

When they try to connect, it only says "Timeout" (without a number). What could be the problem?
They can both ping me using cmd.exe, and they can join any other of my servers in other games. So it has to be a problem with il2. We both have the same version. It doesn't even work when it's freshly installed, patched with the exact same patches and nothing modified then.

Help us, we really want to play!

The new Korea map may be the problem if that is what is being used.
It is VERY BIG and a "less than powerful" computer cant handle it.
We have had that problem with some of the AG26 pilots.
There is a work-around for the "big Korea Map" problem.

The problem some are having loading the Korean map is due to the large size of ed_m01.tga file in the Korea Map. The 'slower" machines cant get into a game. Here is a work-around that will work.

Edit the 'Load.ini' in the Il-2/MODS/Maps/3BG-KTO folder.
Original
[MAP2D]
ed_m01.tga
ed_m02.tga
;ed_m03.tga
;map_ed.tga

Altered (Insert the ';' semi-colon in front of the ed_m01.tga file. This will load the smaller *.tga file instead of the larger one.)

[MAP2D]
;ed_m01.tga
ed_m02.tga
;ed_m03.tga
;map_ed.tga

Do this to the Winter Korea map as well. It makes the map "smaller" and allows you to get into a game.

No, it's independent from the map. Anything doesn't work, we tried changing everything in the options... it just times out!
