Hello All,
The title says it, I am looking for a way to temporarily turn off the video track play function in static offline campaigns. Not that I don't appreciate the efforts of those who chose to enhance their campaigns with video sections, but I would like to test something and in order to do that, I would like the tracks not to be loaded when a new campaign is started. I know that I can hit "escape" once the track is loaded and has opened. But for this one, I would prefer that the game goes straight to the first mission of the campaign, without playing any intro track.
Is there something in the conf.ini that I need to change to achieve this? I checked, but didn't find anything under "intro," or "track."
In the long run, I want to keep the intro display function, I just want to be able to turn it off temporarily.
Any help with this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
RB

Eh, doesn't that just turn off the intro of the game, not the campaigns?

My bad. My campaigns don't play intro clips. :-? I guess I lucked out. It only has a different splashscreen while loading. And diff music until I turned that off.
Some custom campaigns have.
Hello All and thank you for your helpful replies!
In answer to Boris' post, I do like the videos and see them as an important way to tell the story of the campaign. I have played Castaways and Bushpigs and I agree with you. However, here is why I would like to temporarily turn off the intro track function.
Two days ago, I wanted to re-play a Ki-43 campaign I have plaid once before, months ago. I can't remember the author or title at the moment and right now I am not on a computer that has my IL-2 on it, so I can't look it up (didn't find it on M4T right now, either).
Anyway, when I started the campaign, the display in the intro track was not correct. I got something of a split picture and plenty of zigzag lines across the screen, even though a previous quick-mission had played without a hitch. So I hit escape, to get out of the faulty track display and move on to the first mission. However, the screen just turned black and nothing happend after that. I had to exit via Ctrl+Alt+delete.
Now, I want to test each mission of that campaign in single missions and then check whether they still run, strung together as a campaign, but I want to get around getting hung up on that first intro again. I suspect that this is not a graphics card issue, but something to do with the map the campaign uses (Thailand, or Burma).
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks,
RB
I see.
One thing you could do is open the campaign folder and copy/paste all the missions into a folder named whatever you like and place that folder either into:
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Missions\Single\JA
or put the folder into:
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Missions\Net\coop
Since there is a "Player" plane you will fly in the intended a/c no matter where you put it.
Hope this helps.
Hi Boris,
Thanks, that was my plan. I tried it today and placed a copy of the campaign folder in "single missions." Then I tried to load the missions individually, starting with the last one. At ca. 100%, the dreaded error message about the paratroopers popped up. Only this time it's not "3do/msh/paratroopers/Russia/mono.sim not created" but "paratroopers/Germany". Same thing with the mission before. When I tried to open the first mission, I just got the black screen again, this time followed by a CTD.
The campaign is titled
OPERATION TSUZIGIRI
Japanese attacks against the earial routes over "the Hump", October 1943
Type: 6-mission static campaign
Version: 1.0
Players country: Japan
Players aircraft: Ki-43 II
Map: The Thailand/East Burma/Indochina map by Fabianfred ***THIS IS A MOD MAP!***

I have played this campaign before on my rig without any problems. However, it seems that the Thailand, Philippines and Korea maps always encounter these problems after a while, almost as if some files get corrupted after being used for some time.
Don't know what else to do.

RB
