poor FPS (zoomed in) near towns
#1

Hiya techinical il2 buffs ! due to a recent post , it has promted me to get off my back side and ask for help ..
Basically in a il2 dogfight whenever i am near a town and i zoom in to locate a target the fps drop to an unplayable level. this is very annoying when chasing an enemy target and you cant follow them coz your pc is slowing up. I have a decent p.c with a very good g.card, Also wasnt a problem before the mods.(maybe ui.1.1?)
and i dont think im alone on this, many of my squad mates have this also and we think its due to the large amount of trees now placed in and around the town.
My question.. is there any particualer folder/ file that can help me/us here? Any help from someone who knows what they are talking about would be very apprrecited Smile

Same thing for me. Everything maxed out, water=2, effects= 1 or 2 I can't recall.

8800GT512, c2d2.66, 2GRAM.

The smaller the FOV is, the less the FPS is. Only if the town is in sight. If I turn my head, it's perfectly fine.
Quite annoying.

Hello all

Read some here(my problem too):
http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/ ... 9141050267

The Thing is that even guyz with I7 system and powefull v card still have the problem(less but still).
It's all down to the reolution we play.
It may be that strong AMD CPU have some advantege over Intel's in this specific matter.
I think that the window ratios used,may add to the problem-the game is optimized to 3:4.

I have tested FPS on maps with trees and without trees. That is using the same map but removing all the trees from the actors.static. The auto generated trees in towns do not appear to have a significant effect on FPS. Only objects make a large difference. If the dogfight mission has been created with a lot of additional objects that may have a very significant effect.

What map and what mission file is being used?

--- and Grom29 -- If you limit your mods to UI 1.1 you should not notice any serious impact on FPS, except with object intense maps, but you can choose not to use these. Some Beta mods do have a bad effect on FPS, but that's why they are still Beta.

Hi @all Big Grin

I think the problem could be caused by some hardware drivers as well.
I had the problem several times and it's quite hard to figure out which drivers
you actually need to get your system components working together properly.

But anyway, i have the same problem with heavy fps drop near a city when it's in sight.
Especially on the Slovakian map.

I run an ATI Radeon HD 3800 1024MB on a Gigabyte EP43-S3L Mainboard equipped with
an Intel Pentium III Xeon-Processor Dual Core 2.7GHz and 2gigs of RAM

greets,
Vmax

Just want to also say I have/had this problem. I could never get it to go away, but it can be minimised, playing with settings. But it has been long since I did this, and I cant recall..I think ground detail or somthing...

Just for the record, mods have buggerall to do with this issue. Unmodded games suffer as much from it.

Thanks CirX

Went to the conf.ini file and changed these lines to zero:
LandShading=0
LandDetails=0

The detail factor almost doubled my minimum fps(from 12 to 23 on specific test).
The shading factor added 1 fps more.

... guys , don't forget that IL2 uses java as platform so having proper java runtime environment for your OS does help a lot .
