SLI or not SLI...that's the question
#1

Greetings to all the Nvidia geeks!

I am running two Gefore 8800GT in an SLI configuration (CPU Intel Core 2Extreme Q 6850 @ 3Ghz, Windows XP SP3).

Knowing the limitations of IL2 with SLI what would be your choice: 16X antialiasing or SLI16X (as SLI is not really used by IL2 the other card would help with getting a better image quality)?

next question: would you consider using the quality oriented rendering SLI 32XQ or 16XQ or stay with the standard (seems to make my system quite unstable)?

Thanks for your input.

I'm running 2 GTX 295's in SLI with AA set to SLI 8x and Ansio Filtering to 4x. Having it higher really doesn't make that much of a difference as far as visuals.
Without Vsync I get anywhere from 144 - 240 fps. Obviously I keep Vsync on for my Track Ir, so my FPS is only 63 all the time.

Though I fly through the valley of death, I will fear no evil.....
For I am the meanest SOB in the valley!

You have a great sistem, SLI worth the money, you the low FPS more higth and stable than with a sigle card, and more performace than a higthend single card....
I notice anisotropic filter isnt so important to IL-2 and down the Frames per secunts (FPS) , but anti-aliasyng give a better quality and dont drop so the FPS.
So i sugest you test all in maximum and down anisotropic filter if you notice FPS low than 40.

If you're running high resolution (I've got 3840x1024) am I better off getting a newer graphics card or running SLI
with two 8800gts 640Mb cards?
