North American TP-51C Razorback Mustang (very rare)
#1

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone was planning on making a mod for the very rare North American TP-51C Mustang?

Here is a link that shows it being flown with Jay Leno in the backseat:

The aramment was actually 4x.50cal machine guns, Browning M2. It is simply a modified P-51C. Any Mustang given a TP-51 designation, appear to be modified in the field, not actually produced. They were used in the field for combat training and joyrides for ground crews. They often had the rear fuel tanks removed to add the extra seat. In fact, alot of the P-51's that are still flying have been modified to be twin-seaters. A "TP-51B" was called The Stars Look Down was used as a high-speed observation post for Eisenhower during D-Day. It might be easy to add to the Mustang Collection being worked on, but there really isn't any point to it from a combat perspective. The "co-pilot" didn't actually do anything. It would only be nice for flying with another person on board for a shortened range.

What do you mean? Sure, it's not the same as the P-47 with 8x.50cal where you can shred anything almost instantly, but if you actually take to time to practice gunnery and get good at it like real USAAF pilots did, then you'll find that 4x.50cal guns are more then enough. Occasionally, on long range missions, P-51D's would go to this configuration by removing the middle guns on both wings and adding extra ammo.
