DOWNLOAD

"USS BUNKER HILL CV17" + "HMS INDOMITABLE" [Skins by miker8]

IMPORTANT ! :Because I'm using a different folder This texture mod will change your IL-2 default carriers USS INTREPID + HMS ILLUSTRIOUS Skin into "USS BUNKER HILL CV17" + "HMS INDOMITABLE" skin.

HOW TO INSTALL; go to your "IL-2 Sturmovik 1946" main file, default its located in C/Program Files/Ubisoft/IL-2 Sturmovik 1946...., open it and copy and paste the downloaded: MODS , Missions and PaintScheme folders in here , it will ask to overwrite,...acknoweledge with yes every time it asks... Done

I also included a 'single mission' for the USS BUNKER HILL : a LIGHT version if you have a medium pc and a FULL version for the stronger pc's

To view CV17 USS BUNKER HILL ,select single mission/ USN/ Missiontype/ CV17 Bunker Hill [FULL or LIGHT] mission.

To view HMS INDOMITABLE ,select a RN mission/campaign

...enjoy

miker8

PS, I'm using now a different folder [AlterdDefaultShipSkins] for the ship textures and wil use it also in the future, so if you already installed my first ship skin HMS INDOMITABLE, it is best to delete the 'ShipsTextures' file from your 'MODS' folder, so far I havn't noticed an error when the two files remain in the MODS folder but why have 2 when 1 is enough..

[ PLZ, let me know when the mod is NOT working ]

Really impressive work. You have great skill with this.
I am curious though, in the download, you include every file in the particular ships folder (267 in the Intrepid folder alone). It increases loading times and effects fps to have more files then is necessary outside the original games packed SFS files.

Is it possible to remove these, or have you modified them all in some way that makes it necessary for the repaint? It'd be good to slim down the package to just the tgs's and optimise performance.
Looking forward to seeing what you ge up to next.

Great Work on the skinning, but why not take the data for the Intrepid & Illustrious and create two new ship slots using these new skins.

Now if we had a way of selecting skins for ships, static ships and static aircraft like we do for player planes and AI planes in the FMB then that would be the ticket.

Again beautiful artwork.

Bee, I was under the impression that you need to have all these files to get the tex mode to work, i think this was the problem with Straswa's skins, next to the wrong tgb's he inserted.
I also experimented the way you explained [ only using skin1o/skin1o.tgb/skin1p/skin1q...] but then the skin doesn't show up, sure if you know how to slim down the files without errors let me know and I wil update the mod as soon as possible ,btw the 4 tga's I mentioned are the only ones that I modified.

MAILMAN, m8 as you can see I don't know much about the technical part of the game and what you are suggesting would be great, but right now I don't have the knoweledge to do so, sry

Cheers Miker. I removed all of the msh and mat files and just left the tga's. When I started up the game, your new textures showed up just fine (bloody good work btw).
It's a fairly good rule of thumb that you only need to put new of modified files in your mods folder. The game will read the default one of anything it can't find there. I'll
also read the default ones somewhat quicker than the ones in the Mods folder.

If some bright spark could figure out how to pack the next UI as SFS files, we'd be on easy street. Tongue
