once Mr Jolly left
#1

this is exactly what I was afraid would happen once Mr. Jolly left, we have a complete 2 sets of modding communities and no discipline!
I'll come back once y'all have figured out how to get this stuff working with out jumping from one source to the next..

example: (Sea Furry wont work with out difficult instructions.)

But the SAS buttons work with UI 1.1 :wink:

Or are you having extreme trouble with it?

Cheers!

Never mind Fryslanboy , some people are always angry about somthing or other , would rather blow his top than ask for help.

There has always been more than one community of modders. Its just that this place's previous censorship program prevented you from knowing about them.

Okay, but i don't understand why he's whining about it. If he has Ui .1.1. then it should work, or otherwise>>delete topic(just a suggestion) :wink:

If the only goall of this topic is to make the makers of the mods bad, i knew what i would do :wink:

Cheers!

I wouldn't call it whining. He has a right to post his concerns. Those that do not know how things work (inside the game folders) will have a difficult time getting this to work. It can work, and does, if you do it right. It's been explained many times on several posts, therefore I won't go into it. I'm not a big fan of the 2 team system going on either. I believe that all major modding teams should coordinate with each other, otherwise in the very near future there will be compatability issues. That said, if I had to guess, something is probably being done about this.

Friction

I just got to add... be cautious where you guys take this topic, as it could get modded very quickly if this gets out of hand. :wink:

Hehe, okay,thanks for the explination :wink:

Cheers!

@GF_Mastiff:
... it would be nice if you could give us some time to adjust to new policy and relationships with other communities .

We are not professionals here and we do not have extensive plans nor research team which can predict all issues we do and will encounter trying to give you guys the most of Mods from all communities .

So please give us some time so we can agree with every modder/community ( with good intentions) about future standardization for IL2 mods ...

i know its hard to believe but we do have good intentions here

GF_Mastiff, please give both the communities some time to figure things out. I'm sure in the (near ) future all mods will be compatable. It's like the Betamax vs VHS story... (Yes i'm old... ) 8)

For some of us its been quite frustrating to see some mods/aircraft at check6 or 242 squadron etc that
could not all be included in one install, now it appears that members from the different groups are
working together to make it happen and i find it very gratifying to see it, have added the F51, all hurricane opening cockpits
early mark1 hurry with 2 bladed prop, sea fury amongst others in the last 24 hours, all working perfectly in the
AAA UI. Happy chappie here.

That is a good point. I nominate Deutschmark for Prime Minister of AAA! And D.O.A for Head of Admins and Modding Affairs!

I didn't even know he'd left - busy with work I guess. well it's a real shame cos the aircraft like Spit XII and XIV Mossie BXVI, Beau X etc were in a class of their own; easy to install and faultless with his little patches. His absence will be felt dearly in the future methinks. Has he stopped completely?

We are all grateful to what the modderas are doing for il-2 but;

To be honest I've stopped trying to put some of these other "new" aircraft into my game cos most of the time i can't understand what i'm supposed to do with the blasted things and lose interest. A lot of them are borderline jobs that seem to cause a lot of hassle too; they conflict with other stuff or they won't work in FMB or something. I don't really see the point of having planes with errors in an otherwise good reliable flight sim?

why are so many posts on forums asking for help;
I also wish that somebody good give some clear instructions on how these damned things should be installed. You know, like they used to do in the old days with cfs2 - clear instructions that are consistent and make sense to all - not just the old regulars. I think this would unjam your forum posts with poor sods who are trying to find out how to do it, being told in a very polite manner to basically bugger off and read some other post on another aircraft which runs to 20 pages or whatever is not the answer. LOL

Perhaps there needs to a be a group of expert regulars that band together and test these aircraft for a predetermined period to try and iron out the obvious faults, or at least try the bloody things in FMB, or find the conflicts or whatever, then once done they could be put on genaral release for all, with step by step instructions on how to install them into the game v.4.08 or 4.09.

This should end most of the problems people (other than veterans) are obviously having with installing these aircraft , and would maybe even bring some new talent into il-2 modding.

I've never had to do a reinstall of il-2 yet, but i've cherry picked the maps and planes on offer here and its transformed my game, so thanks guys. from what i've read some must be re-installing the goddam game every other day or searching for the plentiful bugs -! just when do they actually enjoy the game and fly?

what i've dome, and i'd recomend this to newbies, is to follow the posts after a new plane is released. its usually predictable stuff -

first everyone goes all orgasmic because a new plane is out, then after a few similar and semi-grovelling posts the problems start to take-over; crashes at 10%-90%, my other planes wont work, my other maps wont show, there's no cockpit, weapons dont show, wont work in FMB, my campaigns are knackered, everythings knackered, can't get plane or map to save in missions, game locks up and so on and on. shame. it could be so much better. perhaps less haste more care - remember the hare and the tortoise?

i realise i'm not able to help the site by building mods or whatever, and no before you ask i havn't donated either, but i don't think there is an argument in saying that just because you're not building aircraft or maps or whatever or shelling up hard-earned and scarce cash, that you shouldn't have any say (just pre-empting the usual put-down for anyone here that dares to be remotely critical in any way.

Thanks Deutschmark for this clarification.

I do want to stress that since we have opened doors between all modding forums many things are being planned for the betterment of the community.

We can assure you that everyone will be surprised, however it will take time.

All we ask for, is patience.
