Benghalli, map in progress

Speaking on fictitious maps, what ever happened to the "Atlantis" map that one guy was building. I thought that was an extremely well built and detailed map as well, and looked forward to its release. This map is very well done, love the small dune texture on the sand beaches running up to the woodlands. How is the fps when coming into the land from the sea?. I have noticed that when flying on just about any map there is, I get a drop from 60 (vsync on) down to 23 and as low as 18 when approaching the edge of city trees and houses, once into the city it comes back up to high 40's and back up to 60 as I fly through the town. Some are worse than others. There must be some kind of trasistion there that is hard for the video cards to render/decode? I will have to try those conf.ini settings on the previous page. I have been testing all 5 dll's and various ini files to see what combinations work well with my system and setup. I have not loaded the newest 190 series nvidia drivers yet untill nhancer updates to exploit any new settings. My setup consists of

Ooh Avala , please, give us a little update, or... at least a sign of live

I think over 70% of the community is dying to see this map coming out, and it's been a while back when you said something about it Big Grin

Cheers!!

I am not working exactly night and day, but every time that I have some free time. (I must admit, much of that free time i spend flying over it and playing Big Grin)

That is good idea about civil and war like building settings, I didn’t think of that. But even if I don’t make those two versions, I think there is enough place on this one. There are actually very few buildings and most of them are not on the airports. I will see about that yet, but I like the idea.

Unfortunately there is stuttering in low flight above water (I didn't noticed it above forests) but only if water is set to 3 or 4. In making of this map I figure it out that it has something with "shallow water"; texture. That texture is automatically animated, meaning that you can put any texture that you like, but it will be animated with waves on it automatically by the simulation engine. It seems that it is hard for rendering with shader 3 (water 3 and 4) for video cards, as =DFA=BeoWolf put it.

I will make some update later; it is very, very early morning here. You will not be disappointed

Here is the small update that I have promised. First let me say that I took these screenshots while also tested new terrain light mod (new settings) and new setting for the gapa gamma panel utility (they goes together very nicely). You will not need these two to play map. And it also looks good with the stock settings.

This is 2D map or just a idea how it will look, with comic style, hand drawn. Of course this is just “first take” and it might look totally different on the end.

This was testing vehicles on the map. The boys are back in town. Big Grin

This one is not resized, just cropped. To show how forests looks.

In these two you can see how bump textures (of the sand) reacts on different times of the day and on different weather settings. First one (almost glowing sand) is in the noon, and the second one is from the morning.

This is new texture for shallow water, should be something like coral sea bad.

A new standard has been set here. Fact is, every tropical setting from now on will need to be measured against this quality.
