Yeah so, I haven't played IL-2 for a couple weeks and once I recently installed the game again. This is an issue that neither I or my friends have encountered before.

I hope someone might have a solution that doesn't require me to install again.

I cannot help you there really wide you can solve problem without you it anew must instal.

I would instal in yours if it puts anew and because old IL2 ordner after uninstall extinguish and then instal again anew...

Simply change the pilot's name. In the 'Pilot' interface.
From the main menu (the first page you see when the game starts up), click 'pilot', then select and change first name, nickname, and last name, one at a time, and name your pilot John "Mad" Doe, or whatever you may want to use.

Explanation:
The default Pilot name for the Russian game (Ivan "Vanya" Ivanov) is being displayed, because the modded game is based on the Russian version.


Same thing if you decide to create a new pilot (say, for playing the same campaign at different settings at the same time): when you click the 'NEW' button and the new pilot is created, the default Russian name Ivan "Vanya" Ivanov will appear, in Russian letters. But now you know how to fix it: select first name and change it, do the same for nickname and last name... or simply keep the Russian name. It doesnt really affect the game, ayway
Even if the default pilot name is in Russian letters, you can easily replace it with a Western name because that's the layout used by your keyboard
