No Mission Text
#1

Hey. When I join a server and I'm at the mission page (map on left where I choose my starting location), I don't see any text on the right. I could never figure out why I didn't know what to do for the mission but people have said read the mission briefing. I don't have any text to the right of the map which is where I assume the mission briefing goes like it does in the single player. Any ideas?
Thanks

Try selecting a base, choose your plane and then go back and hit "Brief".

Most people have briefings separated in the .mis file so that different sides see a different brief. You will only see it, however, once you've chosen a side and plane.
Just remember not to hit fly before you read the briefing.

I think you're right that that's my problem, I;ve never done that before. When I join the server, choose my base, then click arm and choose my plane and go back to the map page, I don't see a button labeled "brief". where should it be?
Thanks

to clarify: Even after I've selected my abse and plane I see only: disconnect, difficulty, arming, and fly on the map page.

The Briefing button is on the Acft selection page in the lower left corner. Once you select a plane then hit that button.

The only button in the aircraft selection page for me is "apply".

Thanks for help though guys. I appreciate it. Especially if I am just doing something stupid and its not a technical problem.

Perhaps a screenshot or two might help us with your dilema. It sounds like you are going to the ARMING page.

You're right, I am talking about the arming page. I didn't realize there was another page for aircraft selection.

When I join a game I get the map page (picture on right). Then I click Arming and go to the page shown by the picture on the left.

Then I hit fly. I don't see a briefing button or any text in the map page while I do this.

I had the same issue a while back, go in to program files/Ubisoft/IL2Sturmovik1946/missions.

you should see 3 folders, one marked "Campaign" another marked "Single" and the third marked "Net"

If the "Net" folder is missing simply right click and select create new folder, then name it "Net" and your problem should be solved. Big Grin

Thanks for your reply.
I looked and I DO have a folder there labeled "net" with subfolders co-op and multi. Just to ckeck I deleted that fodler and created a new folder called Net. Still no dice. I am running IL-2 from Steam so my path is actually program files\steam\steamapps\common\il-2sturmovik1942, I tried creating the path you specified in just the regular program files as well but that didn't work either.

Thanks

I found this post using the search, all of the people that we (The 13th) got into IL-2 have had this error. Should the cache folder be created apon installing the mod or is this just a general steam error?

AFAIK, the stock, unmodded game, that installs off the DVD, and even older versions FB+AEP+PF always had a /Net/cache folder, unless maybe it gets created the first time you use multiplayer, I don't know.
