ATI and Channel Map
#1

Hello,

my first post here. Sorry for my bad english in advance....

Is that a known bug? If u using a ATI powered graphiccard the frames went down over the country.....
I checked it with ATI 4870, 4850 and 4750. If i using a Nvidia powered card (i tested with 9800pro, 260GT) all things are fine.....

Anyone knows about this problem an can help perhaps?

Thanks and keep the good work....

Hi LoHan,

und herzlich Willkommen!

If you don't mind, I will answer in German:

Ich habe zwar keine ATI Karte - aber es gibt hier im Forum diverse Meldungen mit Problemen mit ATI Grafikkarten.
Und es wird letztendlich immer empfohlen eine Nvidia zu nehmen. Aber das hast Du ja selbst festgestellt!

yes has something to do with the textures ati interprets them in 32x32 format nvidia doesn't have this problem. the map maker would have to change all his textures to 32x32 format, mathematical root. :?

Thx Jambo and Mastiff for the fast replay....

As i see there are two solutions for me (without to change to Nvidia)

First..... dont fly the Chanel maps
Second..... fly over sea only

LoHan,

I experienced the same problem and found a solution. For me, it was a driver issue.

The Channel Map was not a problem a few months ago. Now it has terrible jitter and poor frame rates over land on the Channel Map. I have an ATI Radeon HD 4850. Operating system is Windows 7 RC 64-bit

I experienced the problem using the 9.7 and the 9.8 ATI drivers. Tonight I uninstalled 9.8 and went back to 9.3. There is nothing special about 9.3 other than it was a driver from several months ago before the problem surfaced.

With 9.3, the Channel Map is back to normal. Here is the link I used to download older ATI drivers.

For Vista or Windows 7

For XP 32-Bit

Try it and let me know if it solves the problem for you.

Which alt?

If you are flying high and the FPS is ok ...

and if you are flying low (0-2k) and the FPS goes down check your forest settings in the OpenGL part of the conf.ini. Reduce it to 0

There are some country sides where you can find a massive collection of hardware shader 1 trees.
