Tank Cockpit/Interior/Stations Research Need Help!
#1

For the upcoming tank mod viewtopic.php?t=19223 we need to do cockpits for the driver, the gunner using the main turret and also the guy sitting on top with a machine gun.

It would be useful if you can provide pictures from either real life or from any tank games with reasonable cockpits. Red Orchestra from what I've heard can be one of the games.

Specifically we would like to see the interior of the following tanks:

  • IS-2 (122mm gun)
  • T-34(76mm gun)
  • Tiger II (88mm gun)
  • Sherman M4A2 (75mm gun)
  • Panzer IV F2 (75mm gun)

Please state which tank the pictures are from when posting. Thanks.

I could try taking some screens in WWII Battle Tanks: T-34 vs. Tiger (a video game) but I don't know if it will do any good. :-?

Try the LIBERATION 1941-45 mod for Operation Flashpoint:Resistance game. There are T-34, IS-2 and Pz-IVF2. For example, T-34-76's commander position:

If you speak Russian you can talk with that mod dev team there:

This is a good choice, they are like IL2, but for tanks. I would consider a torrent for it just to get the modelling, but forget the King Tiger please, it was poor and not many made compared to the Tiger I

As a general note to would be well wishers thunder clouds who'd rain on this particular parade:

Please do NOT point out that IL2 is an aeroplane sim. These guys know that already. Offer encouragement, advice, or oppinions about models etc, but don't just say stuff like:

"IL2 is for aeroplanes, not tanks!" It's unconstructive and a bit rude. It's rather unecessary. So I'd ask you not to post such comments. They will be removed or moderated.

Gents, i wish you luck with this. Regards,

Mog

Annoying the annoying, so you don't have to.

anti addick, we will review the tiger choice but from what we've gathered so far the Tiger II wasn't the most produced German Tank/Tiger but it was significantly better than it's predecessor. Much more advanced with thicker armour also armour was slanted with a bigger gun. It kinda like shows the power of the German Tanks. Anyway the first tank that will be done is the IS-2 with the 122mm gun. If we can get one tank done, the rest will be much simpler and we may included both Tiger's etc.... Getting the coding for the Tanks right and the FM, Sound, Cockpit is the first thing. When we get past the first hurdle the rest will come more easily.

Hey, anything is possible in 1946.

This'll be a mod to watch, should open up some new possibilities for Il-2.

Please post these questions on the other topic, this is for cockpit stuff only. viewtopic.php?p=227531#227531

If you can do a 3d model of it and get it into il2 then yes there might be. Otherwise probably no lol

I support the Tigar I . It was a better vehicle overall, based on its combat performance, and was used since 1943 in far three-four times numbers than the Tiger II.

As for the interior, check the Osprey Duel titles ("Tiger I vs Sherman Firefly", "Panther vs T-34" and "Panther vs Sherman"). They're fairly straightforward and simple titles with great illustrations (esp. the tank gunsights and how they worked) and also focus on the combat performance and the problems each machine had, so they could help with the FM. Ok, I've taken some screens in Steel Fury Kharkov of the Panzer IV. It doesn't have the same gun actually but drivers position can't change that much because of that I guess. Smile
