Another call for help
#1

All my misery and requests for help over the past few days have originated from a disasterous attempt at converting my game to 4.09b1m a few days ago. As a result I have been unable to access any of my mods and sound files despite them still being present in my mods folder. After many fruitless attempts at trying to restore my mods I decided to remove IL2 from my computer and reinstall it. After sucessfully installing and patching my game to 4.08m I attempt to install Unified Installer 1.1 to no avail. At around 99% into the install it jammed while trying to install Paintschemes and gave me a message to reboot Windows and try again. I attempted to run the game and it ran fine, but the mods and sounds included with the Unified Installer were not present. After trying re-install UI several times with no sucess I decided to re-install the game. I re-installed IL2 and patched it to 4.08m. But this time I decided to install English Sound Mod 0.6 (my original mod activator) instead. But this time my install stopped again at 99% while trying to load files.sfs. I ran my game and again it ran fine. I pasted a copy of my mods, files, and paintschemes folders I had luckily made just before my 4.09 download. My game ran but my mods and sounds are still not present. Does anyone have any idea of what I have gotten myself into?

Did you get any corruption warnings at the end of your UI 1.1 install?

It could be that one of the files didn't download properly even though they all appear to be 100%. If it were me I'd run the UI 1.1 install you have again and watch the files scrolling past, looking for red font. If you see any - take note of where abouts in the install it happened, it's a good indication of which file isn't complete and needs to be downloaded again, it beats re-downloading the lot if it is the case. It happened to me when downloading both the UI 1.0 and 1.1.

I hope this helps, good luck mate.

I tried downloading UI to another folder and it finished without a hitch! Does anyone know what could be stopping UI from extracting it directly to my Il2 game folder?

I've got Vista. And I'm not sure whether my system is up to date but my computer is quite new (around a year old).

I tried pasting my complete UI into my mods folder but at 35 seconds left it stopped and told me "action can't be completed because file is open in another program". What folder is it open in? I then tried to delete it but it gave me the same message.

Download a little progra called update checker at http://www.filehippo.com/updatechecker/
and see whats out of date and update it.
Also check with windows update.

I've installed my game previously with my un-updated Vista and it ran fine. I've installed UI into another folder and pasted the contents into my MODS folder. When I tried to load the game it crashed at 60%. What else either than a old AC installer or wrong air.ini entries can cause a 60% CTD?

one time, i forgot to extract the mod itself to the mods folder, but made the entries it caused a crash too

or is this under category "wrong entries" ? :???:

If your OS is not updated it will not load I had this. Came to find out it was the FRAMEwork that
would not allow it to load. AFTER the update np it loaded and ran fine.
Also while your at it UPDATE JAVA. You need that also.
