OK , so the "standardization " does this mean that all A/C Fm's will be of a certain standard then,Ie, Fair and as accurate as is possible, and not how people "think" they should be ? because i for one hate having these new slot spitfires out turn me in my A6M3, which is clearly not possible in real time. i ask this because i was against modding il2 in the first place, because the un-modded game is of a certain standard.

also, when making new planes, will there be something put in so that if you do not have these planes installed, you will not be able to be shot down by them, because at the moment, you can be shot down by invisible planes, another issue i had with mods.

Correct fair and correct as possible using the methods described. Remember, we are publishing curves.

You can be shot down by people that have the missing countries mod. Use CRT2 on your server of if need be ban them from your server.

Another way is to make sure you do not host planes that are not on your server list. I do know of one guy that tricks this. The only solution is to use FBDj as Willie caught this guy and wrote in FBDj that specific workaround.

Still as I mentioned before, banning users from your server might be your only workaround.

As far as Spirfire turning inside you. You have that behavior in the standard game. Same applies to other doubtful behavior on standard aircraft. Anyways, since we DON NOT TOUCH EXISTING FM those "things" are still going to be prevolent in existing aircraft.

I'll try and answer more as time allows. Right now I have to get back to 1.2 pre-alpha testing.

Just thought I'd add my 2 cents. Development of this game is a continuos process and due to its open and volunteer nature its fragmented. The "standard" most people will use is set by their abilities and their personal interests in the game. I have not worked FM's in IL2 but I have in other games, including commercially for an online game. I can say that FM's are "art" not "science". Its a matter of finding the best compromise which keeps as many of the important performance curves in line. For every change you make to get one curve EXACTLY right, some other aspect gets farther from its true spec. There is ZERO chance of having any type of buttons file/aircraft installer 100% up to date in real time. No way, no how. There is too much ongoing development to keep up with that. The best idea IMHO is to have a large AC installer that can be used by new installs to get up to date to a certain point.. Then, have a "live" update package that would also be installed.. this however would be a work in progress and be date stamped. As new material was added it would be updated and renamed. So installation would require the IL2 1946 game core + installation of the UI 1.4 (or whatever is current) and the most recent live addon dated XX/XX/YYYY. A new AC submitted would be included in the "live" file almost real time and that cold be incorporated into the big download at rehular but longer intervals. To make something like that work you need a clearing house to handle it and try to keep it consistant, testing FM's and checking 3D work for obvious errors etc. IMHO AAA would be a good choice to act in that role and I hope that is how it turns out. Either way its a lot of work and effort from people donating their time. I'm an online flying so my primary concern is geared towards online play so I'm biased in that regard.

I am starting to notice that there are issues arising from these different buttons files. i hope these get sorted and fast, because i can only foresee more issues arising in the future.

maybe AAA and SAS could get together to resolve these issues and any others before new files are released. this would save all the issues needing to be answered on both forums and would enhance the mods experience

Monguse, just wanted to thankyou for your endless patience and hard work.

I would like to remind the community that all the work going into the buttons files/UI/new aircraft comes to us lucky people entirely free of charge.

Remember that when you are stamping your feet and telling everyone your grievances/demands- this is not @ one particular person, but to all the "when will in be ready / why wont it be exactly what I want" brigade.

Just count yourselves lucky that there are this dedicated bunch working their asses off to improve our great sim.

And if you dont like it, then heres an idea- Just quit whining and dont download it.

Thunda.

And what are you doing to get that standardization?

Typically "Standardization" applies more to the format for submission of work rather than the actual content of the data included. The syntax format for submitting MODs is critical if you want a high degree of interoperability and limited unexpected problems.

lol, not in th slightest, but as i was the thread starter and such, you can see where i got the presumption from.
i have actually made many posts re people throwing their toys out of the pram and demanding mods and planes, i have personally tried modelling planes, maps and objects, and am fully aware of how hard it is, but as this topic states there are some issues that have arisen with the buttons files etc that requires attention, for the good of the WHOLE il2 community. so in actual fact, as this thread is not about mods as in demanding them or not liking them, i would say that your post is somewhat off topic

The best buttons are on SAS because they add EVERY FM when launched.
