South Vietnam WIP

Hi,

Just a few pics to show how the making of Tan Son Nhut base is progressing on Pete's map.
This is just the beguining of work : ground textures and roads for this airbase have not been adjusted yet to fit the buildings position :

Enjoy...

That's a superb job you've done there Anatoli, I look forward to loading this up when you're done.

Here are a few changes I've made to Nha Trang, another runway added, not usable as such because it conflicts with the main runway but added accuracy.

The second runway crosses the main and the taxi ways have been altered.

Here is the link that sent me on this re-build; Look under Galerie, aerodromes.

Hello everyone here is a further update of the map for anyone who is still following the progress of it.

http://www.4shared.com/file/JAOXPfnw/Ma ... pdate.html

I felt compelled to share with you the outstanding detail work Anatoli has contributed to Tan Son Nhut.

I've altered the taxi points to allow aircraft to park up next to the main buildings Anatoli has added.

Landing towards the river puts you in front of Anatoli's main detail work.

I have'nt been completely idle myself, Na Trang has now been re-built using two
photographs from the French site French Wings Over indochina.

Some additional changes have been made to the barrack area since these images
were taken.

Sorry to keep uploading the whole package rather than just the Actors.static, but
I prefer to keep it altogether. There are sometimes small changes you will not notice
within the other files so this helps to keep all current work together and aids anyone
who has not previously tried the map.

Being naturally gormless as well it saves me loosing things, at least that's the intention.

There has as yet been no further detailing of Saigon, that is next on the list. Unless
I'm waylaid again.

With the sad news that AAA may be due to close I thought I would post theses images of the populating of Saigon.

Some of the buildings you see here have had their orientation changed due to conflicts with the jeep mod, but these
images should give a general idea of the direction it is going.

I do hope there may be the chance to post further updates, but if not there is a thread at SAS
for this map. I'm afraid I don't update it as often as this one seeing as the project started here
I rather hoped it would be posted here complete one day.

To all those who have contributed, helped and encouraged this project along, thank you very
much.

Hello all been away a few days so missed the re-launch, great to see the site resurected but what happened to my South Vietnam map WIP. Come to think about it not only can I not find my thread but there appears to be a huge loss of content in the map WIP section. What happened guys? Sad

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. Big Grin

I don't think that everyone was able to be saved Sad Which is an aweful shame. Of course we should be thankful that so much was saved, but this really is sad.

Hi Mission_bug, here it is, we have a lot of stuff put aside to have links
Fixed or till people ask like you just have.

Deutschmark

Big Grin that's great news DM Wink

Thank you very much Deutschmark and philip.ed, it felt like I'd lost a part of me, I could have cried. I do hope you will be able to find all the others. It is surprising how much information would be lost if these threads dissapeared altogether.

There have been so many contributions by other members that enabled the original idea to get as far as it has that it would have been tragic to have lost all that input.

You and the team have done such a superb job in preserving all you have in the short space of time you were given. Congratulations, it is much appreciated.

For those that have been following this map here is the June 7th update, this is the whole package.

For those who had the may update all you need is this to replace the map folder.

Hello again everyone, here are a few images of recent work done during July on the map which I thought you may want to have a look at.

An attempt has been made to represent the navy yards and arsenal.
Unfortunately I have no decent images to go on of for this part of Saigon
so the build is my interpretation of what images I had available.

A sealpane landing area has been added close by.

Cat Bai seaplane base has been completely re-built after I managed to
find an image of it, the photograph was not very clear but did give the
layout.

I have also built the French Navy base at Ba Ngoi in Cam Rahn Bay.
Again no photographs were available, I only had brief discriptions from the web of where it was. The American facility used during the Vietnam war is situated across the bay.

Absolutely stunning Pete. Of course I love the water shots. Cant wait for your next update.

Fantastic work. Can't wait for the release.
I'm a bit worry by the Gunboats as these might not be installed in the
same way for everybody... For instance your pics show the old edition of those mods with names on them... I found the installation of the Gunboats mods troublesome as there are more boats then slots to put them...

Good to know you're still keeping tabs on this project Mark, cant imagine what this thing is you have with the water though.

Nice them coastal textures aren't they. 8) Make all the differance to the look of the shore line. I do wish you would have a go at land textures I'm sure they would be equally superb. Big Grin

Nadia, glad you like the progress so far, no need to worry about the gunboats you don't need them to play with the map. As for the boat named Saigon I have skins that can change it no problem. I haven't added any of the very latest to my sim but lacota has made some wonderfull additions to the boats available to us. They are a little tricky to install but definately worth the trouble me thinks. :Smile)

I like a lot the ground objects placement, looks great! 8) 8) 8)
The textures, some of them look too blurred, maybe using 1024 x 1024 tga's would remedy this?
