FreeTrack crashes when starting IL-2
#1

Hi all,

First I have to say that Freetrack is an amazing piece of software! I have got everything to work when testing my three point cap in the FreeTrack program. The skull in the software is moving around according to my headmovements.

However, when starting Il-2 Sturmovik 1946 whith All Aircraft Arcades Unified Installer I get the Windows error message "Freetrack has encountered a problem and has to be terminated"
I have tested both 4.08 and 4.09b1 version of Il-2 with 6DOF on

My system is an old computer with AMD processor and Win XP SP2 but is running IL-2 without problems.
I'm using a Creative Live! Webcam. I think it has Vista in the name but it's supported by Win XP also.

Please help I really want to get this working.

Thank you!

I used to get this a lot with FreeTrack 2.1 - I haven't had this problem with 2.2. I'm also using a Creative Live, but had these sort of problems with a Logitech QuickCam, so I don't think it is related to the webcam.

What used to help:
* A clean reboot and starting FreeTrack then IL-2, it always failed on me after playing Lock On and then trying IL-2
* Try removing IL-2 from the "Default" profile, perhaps creating its own. This didn't work for me, but was recommended by others
* Make sure you have the track hat in the view of the webcam for the whole time IL-2 is starting.
* And if all else fails, when you start Freetrack get your view centred and everything set up, then save the profile. That way if you need to restart, it is all there already.

I hope you find a way to fix this.
