Halifax Patch?
#1

Hello All,

I recently downloaded and installed the Halifax. It works fine in QMB and for the most part in FMB, too. However, when trying to select individual aircraft in FMB, the game freezes or crashes. I was wondering whether the Halifax patch that Ranwers provided (and which I haven't installed yet) might fix this. What does the patch do?
I already posted in the Halifax WIP section, asking the same question and expressing my thanks for the mod, but haven't heard anything yet. Thus, I decided to post here. Administrators, if this is not proper etiquette, please feel free to remove the post.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

RB

I don't understand why you're even asking about the patch if you're having issues...just install the patch, and see if that fixes it...

Hi bigbossmalone,

My thinking on this one was that "if it works, don't fix it." Since most of it worked, I left it for now. I would give it a try, but I don't know how to install this patch. In other words, where do the files in the patch folder go?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

RB

The patch that Ranwers released for the 'Fax doesn't fix the FMB "lockup" problem.
If your building a mission for the Halifax, you can select Plane tabs, but once you save
the mission and come back to it for further work, the FMB will "lock up" if you select
anything other than Properties or Waypoints for your Halifax flights.

For installing the patch:
1: unzip the Halifax_patch.zip into it's own folder on your desktop.
2: "drag 'n drop" or copy and paste all the files in the patch folder
to the HALIFAX-B-Mk3(Multi1) folder(select yes to all overwrites)
that is in the Halifax BMkIII folder.
The path is: Mods>Halifax BMkIII>3do>Plane>HALIFAX-B-Mk3(Multi1)

Since Ranwers didn't provide a 'readme' with the patch, I have no idea as to what it
actually fixes other than guessing it has somthing to do with the models ingame shadow,

AFAIK you won't "damage" anything by installing that patch.

I've actually not tried the Halifax with FMB yet, so I wasn't aware of the lockup problem.
Just a thought on this, here's a workaround that I haven't tried, but maybe it'll work.
Can you make the mission in FMB using another AC for all the waypoints, etc? Then, when done, just change the plane to a Halifax?
Anyone know if this would work? :?:

Hello!

BWF: Thanks for the instructions. I will try the Halifax patch tonight.
Bigbossmalone: When working on a test mission for the He-219 and the Halifax last night, I came to the same conclusion. I did exactly what you suggested and it pretty much worked. As long as I didn't touch the individual plane tabs in FMB, both the He-219 and the Halifax worked fine. However, as soon as I tried to open the plane tab for the He-219 in FMB, regardless of what version of the plane I was using (Checkyersix, Ranwers, EnsignRo), FMB crashed. Same with the Halifax. Perhaps this is a general problem with some of the "frankenplanes"? I am certainly grateful for all the work that modders like Ranwers have done and released here, especially since these two aircraft are long favorites of mine. But perhaps creating a completely new 3D-model of the He-219 and the Halifax might solve this problem. If I only had the skills, knowledge and time, I would give it a try.

Regards,

RB
