Artillery Spotting?
#1

Hello All,

If this has been discussed in detail before, pardon my ignorance. I was wondering whether a mod could be created that allows the player to direct artillery fire. For example, the player could be flying a spotter plane, watch the impact of artillery shells and direct artillery fire to a specific target. As it is now, we can only fly and watch, but cannot tell the gun crews what to shoot at.

Is such a mod possible, or does the Il-2 game engine not allow for something like this?

Regards,

Would be nice to have flares what covert into a enemy when it hits ground so artillery shoots at it. It just might be hard to do.

Edit .. I was misinformed, or rather misunderstood a statement that artillery only shoots straight line .. sorry

All ballistics in game have trajectory physics, the problem is you only have modeled AA guns, which shoot up in air and explode, and Anti-tank which have low trajectory, as I understand things

I need to check this out, but I was told you can, to some degree, use FMB to select where shell from AT artillery lands.

So what we need, is a mod for longer range, higher trajectory howitzer type artillery to function.

I can't say for sure, but I thought I saw something like that with the 4.09 official patch that UBI is supposed to be releasing.

This would be an intelligent add to the game - and some new juicy targets - artillery spotters, spotter aircraft and more radio equipped vehicle would make all the ground pounders very happy!
