I have looked into the DM as much as I can. I can see the hit boxes and the names, but I dont have a proper readout of there value, in how much dmg it can take before it fails.
Here is the original P-38J and L gun DM boxes.

You can see, all 5 guns are represented, but there is only 1 ammo box. All 5 guns are linked to that ammo box. The way IL2 handles ammo box DM, is if its hit, it jams all guns linked to it. I have flown the P-38 a LOT, and taken a LOT of dmg in it, but can honestly say that all my guns jammed only a few times. Im thinking the ammo box has a high dmg value. I dont know why this was done (Oleg's team did the DM) as IL2 does support ammo boxes for as many guns as you want. In fact, all 12 guns on the B-25 strafer have there own ammo boxes.

You can see, each gun has its own ammo box, and they are properly sized, shaped and in position. That way, if 1 ammo box gets hit, only that gun is disabled.
As for other DM systems on the P-38, I have not seen any visual anomalies other then this, and the control system in the booms. We are trying to do our best to fix what we can, but IL2 is very very limited. We will check out the numeric value of the tail, but the hit box is not overly big.
