[WIP] Retextured Kyushu v2.0

Hello All,

Here is my version of the default Kyushu Map, when you install it will replace previous default Kyushu load.ini.

v2.0 Update:
- White-greyish sandy beaches, the more typical in Kyushu
- More agriculture and better blended with the landscape
- New darker tree forests
- Blossomed trees

Known issues:
- The beaches present sometimes a 'jigsaw' effect, this was minimized in the previous version because the textures of land and beach were dark, but now with more clear beaches this is more evident. This is due to the IL2 engine and I don't think can be fixed, if we want clearer beaches.

I really like the new textures, especially the wood textures. The only thing I don't like are the dark beach textures. As far as I know there are only few beaches with dark volcanic sand on Kyushu. On the satellite photos I have seen the sand looks more grey-white.

i'm testing your new guinea map, I allready have missions there so it easer to give a feeback for me.

i'm downloading now the 2 other maps but the pics from Kyushu are pretty good, very natural which is important for realism.

to sy the truth I really hate the "plastic green" used in the stock textures, only good to calibrate the screen.

impatiant to test Kyushu !! Tongue

well........really good work here too. Nice job ! :lol:

forest textures are more natural! the only "bad" point is the beatches, and some agricultural textures not coordinated with the rest. we must find somthing more realistic for that, otherwise the reste is great, excellent. thanks a lot.

I have some nice pics from a b29 interception mission by japs Big Grin will post it if I have time

I really like it, but can't use it whitout more crops, I will prefer to see the fields you used in place of those empty grass textures. Possible?

hum we have to let Mr WhiteCat respond.

i agree with you, Kyushu is populated so it must show more signs of agriculture.

even if I thank WhiteCat 100 times to make these horrible green syntetic stock forest, a more detailed ground would be perfect for Kyushu, but these textures must be very good and seems "local" to work fine..... :?

Redko, just curious, are those screenshots edited at all, or are you something like the gapa gamma utility? I really like the colors and such in them, if you're using gapa, could you please post the settings you're using?

J44, I was wondering the same thing. It could be some edited screenshots but I think it's the Gapa mod.
Actually the screenies by Redko made me d/l this map. 8)

Thanks guys for the feedback for the pics.

Happy to see that these pics made you download Whitecat's map, he did a really good job (it change all my created missions thanks mate), it works perfect with Kyushu and stock Guinea map. Not tested on stock Singapour map yet.

Actually its photoshop work I made with this pics. The idea and the colour choices came naturally as it inspired me a lot. Take a look at this to compare:

So there is no gapa gamma in this, only photoshop. But I think it can be possible to reach a quite same result, because the process is similar. The pics are corrected basically by playing with contrast (g

Hi guys, sorry about my silence, I've been very busy in 'real life'.

@Jury_JS, redko:

I agree completely about the beaches, I have a new version coming with much better greyish-white sandy beaches.

Currently I'd like also to improve the agriculture. I agree that Kyushu should have more agriculture, only that I have to find the way to make it well without making it feel unnatural.

@redko:

Your screenshots are amazing, for a moment I thought they were that Gapa mod to change the color feeling of the game that I haven't tested yet but when you said they were photoshopped, well I was dissapointed Smile !!! Anyone has tested the Gapa with this map?

@all:

I've created darker forest trees over these textures, I'm testing them now but it's quite hard because I have to re-tweak the whole map to these new forests. Don't you think that the stock Italy forest is a little bit clear? Maybe I should leave them as they are now?
