nighttime carrier ops mod request

Hello to All, I was wondering if there is a way to mod a moving carrier to light the deck for nighttime carrier missions. Since the release of the awesome carrier take off mod and the cat launch carrier ops have become so much more realistic, the only thing missing is being able to see the carrier at night for recovery after a night strike. I know how to attach or place the staionary lights on staionary objects but this is not possible with a moving object so I ask can it be done. I know there are many people who enjoy carrier ops myself included ever since Pacific Fighters I have been hoping for a way to light the deck for nightime recovery. Thank In advance if this is possible,or if someone has the time to look into doing this.~S

I would certainly like to see this suggested mod come to life - night fighting Corsairs over Korea - they need somewhere to land Big Grin

Would it be possible to make the carrier turn its lights on only when a friendly aircraft is say within 5km? Something like what we have with sirens at airfields, the siren only sounds when an enemy aircraft is within 'x'kms range (BTW what is that range?) so could a similiar routine be programmed for the lights? friendly aircraft within 5 km - carrier turns on general lights? (port, stbd, superstructure and stern lights) aircraft gets within 2km and full runway lights are also turned on? as soon as the aircraft has chocks in all lights turn off? that would be a really smart mod Smile

Or alternatively, carrier lights come on when pilot makes a landing clearance request.

Yea that would be awesome however I dont think you can make a landing clearance or use your radios when your in a dogfight, it would have to be single player only maybe coop. I could do without all of the carrier lights however the most important light I think day or night would be a Fresnel Lens ! Someone could make a Fresnel Lens or some sort of papi or vasi for the deck we would be all set !

Yes all very good ideas I only hope{PLEASE} That one of the people who can make mods will get interested in this. I never considered dog fight mode, We mainly run Co-ops on the KTO Map ~S

aaa2010: you haven't tried MDS i presume. Because radio communications work for Dogfight server.

Anyhow, as far as i remember, ZUTI was working on this but there was no real interest in this so he dropped it from MDS. The way he intendet to do it that you request clearance to land and when you're withing certaing radius of the carrier, deck lights lit up.

But i don't think he will be working on MDS any further, so, perhaps someone else will do a new mod for this.

I am susprised by the lack of interest in this type of mod considering the number of people who enjoy carrier ops. I was hoping someone would take the ball and run with this it would add a great deal of immersion to the sim espically in co-op and campaign modes.

The problem is, that, AFAIK, captains of carriers almost never turned up the lights on their flight decks.

So, it'd debatable if this is very realistic or now. Another thing is, that nights are bright enough, aren't they :)
