Hi All!

I have had to reinstall il-2 on my system after it got a virus. So I have basically installed il-2 to a factory fresh vista 32 bit and I have installed it to a different file location than the default one and I have also uncheck the UAC box.
Ok, so I thought everything would be fine...but it wasn't.
My problem is that every time i click the il-2 icon it asks for me to insert the disk. I didn't this trouble before, so what has changed?! Can anyone help me?

Sounds right to me. My fresh install off the DVD ALWAYS need the disk to play.
Mod it, and that will go away.

It is patched... :-? Still wants the disk. This is weird cos I installed it a month or so ago and had a similar problem, but I reinstalled it and everything was fine. Then I had my PC crash, and now that I'm pretty much back where I was I have tried to install il-2 again. At this stage I have tried to reinstall it twice, but still it wants the disk. I'm annoyed because as a moderator I should at least be playing the game! LOL

Hmm, I'm sceptical about dowloading from somewhere I'm not familiar with. I would be interested to know whether there is another way around this... :-? Especially seeing as though it was fine before. Maybe something to do with something that is sletected in vista?

Assuming from your photo of Winnie...you are in Europe....and the European version of the game required the DVD in..... the later US version didn't...... different .dll
installing AAA UI which has the 4.09mb modded uses the later version and doesn't need the disc

That is intersting. However, when I was on XP I didn't need the disk in, and this was before I had patched the game to install mods. I am from england, and I bought the game from a GAME shop so I should think it is the PAL version. I have even had it work without the disk unpatched on this latop, so it beats me why it still asks for it :-?

If noone else knows a simple fix then I will install the uni. I think though that it must have something to do with vista...
