All .50 call equipped acft using MG17.wav file. Help
#1

I downloaded and installed some new .50 cal sounds because the ones I was using sounded kind of weak. when I went to test them in game I found that they did not change. I checked the PRS files and they are pointing to the correct files. Upon further investigation I found that all my .50 cal equipped acft are using the MG17 wav file and can't figure out why or how to fix it.

Has anyone run into this before and have a fix?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it probably has something to with the buttons file so I reckon I'm hosed.

Check you don't have any folder "preset" + "sound" one into mod folder (may be you will found them into some new modded AC you have installed) this because they affect your principal Files/Preset - Files/Sound ones

Checked all my planes files and have nothing like that. guess I'll just keep looking.

Recheck as said Goblin...then check if the folder's structure of your 0.50mod is like .../MODS/namewatheveryoulike/sounds+presets (double folder obviously). If it is .../MODS/namewatheveryoulike/files/sounds+presets change the structure as above.

Okay let's try this again. I DID NOT find any folders in the MODS folder structure anywhere that had sounds or presets or anything that remotely resembled such files.

So I took your file structure (MODS/namewatheveryoulike/sounds+presets) and made a mod labled 50_Cal_MG and placed it in the MODS folder and still no change.

US_Grant,

If you are using UI 1.1 the sound files for the .50 cal should be the folllowing:

Preset: weapon.MGunBrowning50s.prs
Inside sample: MG_Browning50.wav
Outside sample: MG_Browning50x.wav

Do you have these files in your "files\samples" and "files\presets\sounds" folders?

Yes, they are exactly like that. Now you know my dilema.

Ok, have you tried playing the .50 cal wave files (outside of the game) to see if they are in fact the .50 cal sounds and not the MG17 sounds?

Yep, sure did. Infact, I even went so far as to copy the 50 cal files and rename them MG17 and put them in to replace the MG17 already there and no effect. I'm stumped.

Yeah, that has me stumped as well! Have you tried replacing your buttons file with the latest version?

do you have a link for that mod?

its about the load order imho...with other words another file is being loaded first which isnt in your sound mod folder

I have buttons file 3.8.

Vpmedia,
When I placed the 50 cal mod in the mods folder I named it so it was at the top.
