Just would like to try / use one MOD
#1

To All,

I currently have the following folders set up on my pc at home:

1) IL-2 1946 4.08 Vanilla
2) IL-2 1946 4.09beta Vanilla

If I were interested in trying / using the Tempest Cockpit (improved backing), what steps would I have to take in order to get it to work? :???:

Thanks.

Hey there KC

I would suggest getting the Uinified Installer 1.1 and then patching to UI 1.11
viewforum.php?f=58

You will get an over all good selection of Mods. You will also be very compatible for any other Mods being made.
It is a large download ,but worth it IMHO

Read everything carefully before doing it,the UI 1.1 installs over top of 4.08 and includes the 4.09 patch in it.

There is also the English Sound Mod & SFX [MOD ACTIVATOR]
(The link is inoperative)

You need one or the other in order to be able to use Mods in IL2,Sound Mod is smaller but you need to do everything on your own.
The Uinfied Installer is self installing, click first .rar and it self installs,it is the way to go IMHO

Once you have Modded your game ,you could then consider installing ,cockpits, other planes ete

Cockpits are relatively easy to install once modded, you just unzip the package and usually just cut and paste the cokpit folder into the MODS folder that will be in your game folder. That's it,load the game and go check your new cockpit out

Thank you EasyRider for the response.

The first post for the link you supplied concerning the MOD Activator does not appear to work:
(The link is inoperative)
Quote:PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
You will need to install this to use Mods with IL2. If you dont want new sounds but still want to install Mods then please go here instead

If all I wanted were then to activate the use of one mod, would you know what files I need to download, install or replace?

You could, dowload the sound mod on top of your 4.09 install. Then the aircraft installer, and then whatever else you need. Sorry, I haven't done a manual unstall like this in a while, so someone please correct me Wink

Search function at top of page works, for locating Mods to look for and download as well as find threads in the forums relating to what you are looking for.
The search function is at the top of the page, just click on it and read a bit to narrow down a serach for betetr results.

The links I left worked fine for me,I just tried them

Here is the sound mod link again>

You can not just use "one mod",you must actually "MOD" your game in order to use ,even just one mod.

You have to MOD the game, then you end up with the needed file and folder structure being added to your game.
The cockpit folder from the MOD that you want to use ,can then be placed into the created "MODS" folder to be able to use the cockpit.

The sound MOD would be the absolute minimum files needed to use just one MOD

PS> why is it so important that you just want to use only one single MOD?
I am just curious is all 8)

There is also the Mod Activator v 5.2, which give you a Modded, (moddable) game, but without the new sounds:

After installing that, you should be able to install an additional single mod, however, SOME single mods may depend on other Mods for bits and pieces. I would make a copy of your 4.08m install, rename it, then mod that, in case things go wrong. Cheap insurance!
