Anyone use Freetrack here?
#1

I have just got it to work with my Win7 install.
What do i have to do to use it in il2?
Are there changes to the conf.ini or what.... and which version of the 6DOF mod do i use or should I turn it off?...using single point ATM

Using FreeTrack 2.2 with a custom made three-point TrackIR device on WinXp 64. I just installed FreeTrack , callibrated the device to my preferences and launched Il-2 - nothing to change, it automatically found the game.
Works with and without 6DoF (though I definately prefer the experience with the mod on). Hope this help! Smile

I just got my FreeTrack running about a month ago. I did the same as Messer, I didn;t have to change anything in IL-2, is just worked. I use it with AAA UI1.1 mods. I do not think you get 6DOF with single point. With single point it will only give you side to side movement, I believe. You need 3 point for 6DOF. Maybe the 6DOF mod in IL-2 needs to have freetrack set for 6DOF?

One piece of advice for when you get it working in IL-2: the freetrack becomes the default "joystick" and your flight joystick will not work at first. So you need to manually re-assign all your joystick commands in the HOTAS settings (located bottom of the command list).

I just changed TrackIRuse=0 to 1 in conf.ini
It is Ok but jerky
How do I keep a full range of movement and smooth it down?
and make a dead zone in the centred position.

Perhaps i should try to have il2 and Freetrack running on different cores of my CPU.... but don't know how to achieve that..

The moviment behavior depends on your webcam model.

Fabian, to make less jerky try to set point view of led with GREEN FPS and JPS counter stable 28-30 fps ,to obtain this you HAVE TO DO:
1- SET AUTO EXPOSURE to NO (UNTIK the little square on the camera) AND value of exposure to 0-1 (very low)
2- put your CAMERA BRIGHTNESS very low + CONTRAST HIGH
3 - put a photo negative piece on the camera lens and if possible remove IR filter
4- move the threshold slide to left-right a bit with the hat on your head till you have STABLE the all three little point of your hat

- to have dead zone set a initial range of cuves almost 90

Fabian,

I use the single point also and find it more than adequate for playing IL2. If you send me your email I will send you my profile. I am using 2.1 and find it very smooth I think you will find you do not need a deadzone once you get used to it. BTW webcam is a microsoft 3000 and I used a kids led nitelight and swapped led for ir led, with my setup I have webcam mounted on headset and 110V nitelie mounted above monitor. I did remove the ir filter from camera and made a vivible light filter from an old floppy disc and other recommended changes posted at freetrack sight. I consistently get 28 to 30fps .

Here is a copy of my IL2 profile, you will most likely have to open one of the profile fgp files and delete and then add this and I said this is for 2.1 which works better for me than 2.2. If you need 2.1 I can email that to you also.
