.mis vs. .quick
#1

Hi all around:

I confess that my knowledge of the quick missions on QMB+ is nil. I normally don't load any quick mission because I never or at least seldom save one of them. However, I have been reading many times about, and remember vaguely that in one of these posts, there was an explanation of why we should save .quick missions in order to have .mis missions, or all the way around, or something like that.

My point: I have a lot of .mis files that I have downloaded from AAA (quick missions), together with another group of quicks that I have made myself and just by chance I found one of my missions in the "load" area of the quick mission screen, (don't ask me what did I, 'cause have no idea) I reloaded and flew my mission again; so I took my .mis files, used a program to change the extension to .quick saved them in the quick folder of IL2, tried to reload one of them and nothing happened. I know that changing the extension (or the name) of a file can render it useless, but have done it before (not in IL2 area) with no adverse results afterward. I reviewed with notepad the renamed .quick files And they are identical to the original .mis, and this can be the problem, because I have seen other .quick with a totally different file structure, right?.

Can anyone help me to have quick loadable missions? (and I promise not to mess with these files again)

Thank in advance.

as i know, .quick saves your settings in a qmb mission.
This qmb mission is a .mis file, but you can edit the parameters (which are saved in a .quick file)

The .mis files that end with 00.mis are the ones the actual mission builder has built in the FMB and are used for you to create your own Quick missions on in the QMB.
These files may be edited if you are familiar with .mis files.

Quick files are really your quick missions that you build ,the 00.mis files are basically .mis files that are needed for you in the QMB to build your own quick missions on.
Saving the time and knowledge needed to use the FMB.

When in the QMB,simply select some aircraft for each side, select a map to fly on usually making the map and aircraft match somewhat.
select weather, altitude advantage or disadvantage as well as other things for your quick mission you are building.

Go in and select skins for individual aircraft and weapon load out's ete ete

When it is all done, then click save at the bottom, click in the name box and type a name, click save.Back in the QMB click fly and have fun.
After you exit your game you can now be happy to know that next time sitting down for some quick missions, your newly created quick mission will be there waiting for you.
At bottom click load, click on the mission name in the list and click load, click fly and away you go.

You can use other quck's that are made by other people, you just need the 00.mis files that go with the quick's that were made in order to match everything up.
You would also need the specific map installed if the 00.mis files were made on a modded map.As well you would need the QMBPlus mod in order to use more maps in the QMB.

Hope this help's somewhat

JG3_vonHahn and Easy Ryder;

I thanks both of you for your assistance, however, this is not what I am looking for:

I create a quick mission in the main screen: 1 flight 4 plane red, 1 flight 4 planes blue, choose a map, set altitud, weather, advantage, time, etc. and hit fly, and the program will load the corresponding None00.mis for the Map: at the end I have two options, namely save or not save. If I hit save, a .quick mission is generated and filed in the "quicks" folder of the main IL2 1946 sturmovik folder and I can recall this mission from the main QMB screen, hitting "load", right?
When I set the same parameters planes, army, weapons, etc. I can select a target as scramble, for example and the mission corresponding to the Map I choose, if any, will be loaded; again, save or not to save is the question.

What I want, if at all possible, is to "save", as a pack, all the 00.mis files for each map and be able to "load" any of them, without the need of selecting the number of planes, aircraft, weapons, army, etc., etc., because my laziness is corrosive and contagious.

Is this possible, or there is the need to transform this and that and to write another Mod, in other words too complicated for the benefits

P.S. I can edit a .mis file in notepad, but I don't know how to do it for the .quick missions, so I am stuck with a single "saved" quick mission. Again, thanks for your consideration to my post

Well, that is why it is called the Quick Mission Builder instead of the quick mission player I guess

Seriously though, sorry for the Jk Smile
It is a quick and effective way for you to build missions,if you are too lazy to build quick missions then try building them in the FMB.
It will seem pretty quick and simple selecting a few aircraft ete in the QMB after that

It is considerable work building things in the Full Mission Builder, this has all been done for you in the 00.mis files,
once again it is called the Quick Mission "Builder".

Your only alternative to be able to not do anything but click load and fly is you would really have to put some effort into using the search function and searching and reading through all the threads you can find on the QMB

In amongst all these threads are small Easter Egg's of link's to quick's that members here have shared with each other,by downloading these and having the necessary 00.mis files to run the map for the quick's you could easily fill your quicks folder too very ,very full Big Grin

In amongst all these threads there are a lot of 00.missions and mission set's available to download,a few links here and there are dead but if you keep searching you will find all that are available as there doubled linked all over through various threads.

Other than that you have to expect to do something entering the Quick Mission "Builder" with emphasis on builder.
Fly single missions if you don't want to set anything up,FYI you can download Campaign's and drop the folder into a folder you make named> NN
then place the NN folder containing the campaign .mis files into > Missions/Single and next time you go into single player you will have a the new NN folder to select any mission in any order from the Campaign you downloaded, cool being able to play them in any order, favorites over and over ete

Anyway,I guess we need a mod called "The quick mission player"
jking

Here's a link to 50 quicks to get you started 8)

Thanks a lot, and yes I liked the joke Big Grin and that is another of the reasons why I visit the forum.

You really have a light bulb on in top of your head. The NN Foder is already in My Single Missions and I can copy all the Quicks, and .mis of the QMB there, as are the UQMG and MM. I will give a touch to this instance and see what happens. will have to be very careful with mission names otherwise will be cumbersome to remember which Map, aircraft and mission type I am selecting there :?: . See you around.
