Hah! You mean the Cavalier F-51D, Mustang II, Turbo Mustang III and the PA-48 Enforcer? Yeah, they're nice but not exactly for this sim... They're along the same lines as the AC-47 Spooky nice and within the realm of the possible, but not timely seeing as they're from the 60's. I mean, give me a break... The most radical thing I've ever asked for was the P-51D with ramjets... Now, I ask for modifications for the photo recon Mustangs and the P-51K-10NT, that's it. I know Lt. Wolf is going to finish the ETF-51D-5NA Seahorse, so no worry there... To be totally honest, I've been supporting the F-6's because the idea of photo recon modifications of planes seemed to be rather popular with some around here. I liked the idea too and happened to know about the F-6 Mustangs so I pushed for them. The P-51K, well, I've already talked alot, and I mean alot, about the P-51K. Look, in the end, I can only hope that Lt. Wolf will grant everyone the P-51K-10NT and the F-6 Rece Mustangs. I'm rather tired now, particurally of everyone criticizing my un-ending support of the Mustang, so I'm going to get some sleep now... Thanks kindly, and please, the lasat one out, turn off the lights... Smile

Yes, I thought you'd recognize them and no, I'm not suggesting their inclusion just merely responding to the Modern rebuilt Mustangs comment in the other thread. The Rolls Royce Dart powered Mustang N6167U flew over a few times and was really weird sounding and really only passingly resembled a Mustang because of the wings and tail. In profile it looked strange but it was very, very, fast. The PA-48 was when Piper got the contract but really wasn't a Mustang at all.

I was on my last check before I collapsed when I saw your post... I can be rather good at identifying alot of planes, not just Mustangs... The only ones I really have trouble with most of the time are the Russian planes, but I can still get most of the later jet fighters... Anyways, the tail comes from the later, tall-tailed, P-51H Mustangs and was applied to all Cavalier Mustangs. Personally, I think it makes the Cavalier 'Stangs look uglier than the standard North American or Commonwealth Mustang, but that's just me...

Not everyone hates the P-51 Deac. If you know how to fly one you can pretty much shoot anything down. Most people that complain about them almost aways try to fly them like a Zeke. The P-51 is not any more prone to stalls, or spins then the Me-109 or Fw-190. In real life it could turn as good at both. The P-51 is not a stall fighter, never was or meant to be.

Rather it was an energy fighter like all mid to late war aircraft. It has been called a Boom & Zoom aircraft. Dive in fast, climb out, repeat, and rinse. Never try to turn the P-51 more then it's min cornering speed. Otherwise you will stall,or spin. Like the Jug, the Jug was not a stall fighter or could it ever be.

Used with the correct tactics the Jug was a Dice-O-Matic. That's the trick to flying any fighter, using it's stengths versus your opponents weaknesses. My favorite was the P-51B or P-51C. Both have good qualities which I feel give it a slight edge over the P-51D. They turn a little better, and are 10 MPH faster at altitude. Only downside is having only 4x50 cals. How ever my absolute favorite plane is the P-38J, but that is another story Smile

I did fly P-51B's and D's in Aces High for two years with a P-51 squadron.

Yes, the Cavalier mustang saw some service.

Trans-Florida Aviation (later Cavalier Aircraft Corporation) had some success selling its refurbished Mustangs to both the military and civil markets. This pair were from a batch of nine supplied to Bolivia in 1967-68. Here they carry USAF markings before delivery.

The Piper Enforcer, however, did not.

Piper revived the Enforcer program in the early 1980's and built two more aircraft as the PA-48 under a USAF evaluationcontract. once again, no sales were forthcoming. N481PE was the first of the further redesigned duo to fly in March 1983.

UTube has many examples of what I stated. Here is one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdCm5z2Rp...re=related

Yeah, I know all this and I'm not quite sure you know why people have been criticizing me. I go above and beyond the normal "call of duty," if you will, to support the Mustang, particurally the less common ones that haven't necessairly been added to the Mustang Collection official list yet.

It's not because you're "supporting the Mustang"...which is fine, if a bit of a bizarre concept. It's because you seem to think that Lt. Wolf owes you these things or that "fighting" to have something released will ever achieve anything other than to annoy the modder concerned. By all means politely request a particular aircraft...but requesting the 30-odd variants of the Mustang that you listed in the Mustang thread at first or even the 18 (!) variants you're still proposing is frankly ridiculous. A good start would have been to say, "hey Lt. Wolf, here's some information about the P-51K variant that actually had improved performance over the contemporary D-models once Aeroproducts got their act together, would you consider making it?", not "here's a list of basically every extant and theoretical Mustang variant, I think you should make those". I really want to see a deHavilland Hornet in the game for some twin-engined '46 fun-times (and indeed there's a Hornet F 1 tentatively in progress), but I wouldn't go into that thread and say, "Hey, that's really cool, but would you make the F 3, the FR 4, the PR 2, the Sea Hornet F 20, NF 21 and PR 22 as well?". If Lt. Wolf WANTS to make these many variants of the Mustang that you endlessly rave about, I'm sure he will, but if he doesn't want to, he won't, and he doesn't owe it to you to do so, and indeed it's very likely that nothing you say will sway his decision one way or another. This isn't like passing a law or something you know, "fighting" is not the word you want to use if you want a modder to make something. You just need to change your perspective on what you're doing. Going "above the call of duty" in badgering someone to give you their hard work and spare time to produce goodies for you to enjoy is hardly something to brag about. Just chill out, that's all. It's not that you're really annoying anyone yet, I guess, it's just bewildering that you can't understand the basic dynamic that exists between modders and the people that download and enjoy their work. :???: Your enthusiasm is commendable, I just think it would be helpful for you to understand why everyone finds your attitude so bizarre.

Look, I never said anybody owes me anything and I don't need you to explain peoples' attitude's to me. I'm perfectly capable of figuring out things for myself. Look, I'd rather that a plane has good justification to be in the game than not and that's why I've talked so much about the Mustang. Look, I've rather dropped the subject, or at least I'm trying too and would if it wasn't for people like you, so if Lt. Wolf makes the extra Mustangs, he makes them. If not, then not... I've always been one to say that this is the way it is, but I've also seen perfectly good aircraft ideas get tossed aside, because they weren't clearly justified... Now, if the lot of you would kindly drop the whole Mustang subject, it would be greatly appreciated. It gets old to be called commendable, but crazy...

I'm sure you're right, usually it comes down to whether or not a modder wants to do it or not, though, not whether the AAA fanbase considers the aircraft as a justifiable addition to the game..."justification is in the eye of the downloader", most often. Tongue Most often, people complain about an aircraft being pointless or unjustified AFTER work has begun on it, it seems. Doesn't seem to stop Slow from producing loads of Luft '46 stuff despite the whines. I think the issue there is that usually there's little to no data from which to base a credible FM for many of these theoretical aircraft that are perceived as unjustified.

Gladly.

Back on topic, those Mustangs are really cool....in a "surviving aborted baby of a P-51 and an ugly stick" kind of way. Smile
