I have been playing off two 4.09m modded versions of Il2 for a while, with no "clean" 1946 remaining on my hard drive. I deleted one of the modded copies I don't play anymore and I thought I'd reinstall a new clean version from my original 1946 DVD and then patch it up to the official 4.09 since I figure a AAA universal installer will eventually be made for 4.09. However, I can't seem to get the install programs on the DVD to work. I get asked what language I want to use and blooey, the drive just whirrs away doing nothing.
Is there something I have missed, or is there a reason I can't install the game again? This is so frustrating and I can't help feeling I'm missing something obvious.
you could try renaming the il2 main folder so the checker does not recognise it and allows you to install. then just put the folder name back once you have installed. not sure if this will work but its worth a try
Did you deleat the IL-2, or did you un-install it ??? Normally if the DVD sees that you already have "IL-2 Sturmovik 1946" in the Registry, it will not install it again.
If this is your problem, you will have to copy your one remaining IL-2 (since you want to keep it) and rename either copy to the original name of "IL-2 Sturmovik 1946" so the DVD can un-install that version and then you can install a new version from the DVD.
Hi jzoopster49
Just had a similar episode to yours, while trying to install from my new DVD IL2-1946.
I already had the steamed version of the game on my computer and got the same screen as you when I insert the DVD into the drive on auto run (ie) the install game button was blanked out, as I did not want to delete my steam copy at the moment, I had a bit of a poke around in my disk drive.
If you go to your
Thanks all. I ended up having to use a combination of the fine advice Saburo Sakai and PanzerFodder provided, but it finally worked and I now have an additional stick Il2 1946 patched to official 4.09 standards, just waiting for a new AAA UI.
