Come on, we have planes up the wazoo! Please can someone fix these poor aircraft...
Damage model is naff... Plane model is naff, piloting them makes me feel naff...
Was Vanir finished with his Kittyhawk Ia and Kittyhawk III?

The only thing I'd like to see fixed on all P40's is the fuel gauge. Right now, it's just static and serves no purpose.
Though I fly through the valley of death, I will fear no evil.....
For I am the meanest SOB in the valley!
I think its fine. Just needs the wings to be sorted out correctly with out gaps.
I also suggest using search before jumping the gun and posting next time depending on your topic.
I remember there being a few "studies" here on what was wrong with the P-40. There were various 3D errors and such and the two major missing variants were the P-40F and the P-40N. There was also a small following that I am a part of for the P-40Q... Though, I know what would be involved in patching up all the P-40's and making the new ones, so I'll stay away from that one. Best of luck...
Alright in hindsight it was not a good idea to post as soon as I woke up. Appologies to the forum, I was a tad rude.
And yes I do know what's involved with modelling which is why I leave it to the experts. I have two logins because I forgot I was already a member... So to ask the same question in a different way.
Is there any work on going with the P-40?
Yeah, that's what I was talking about. It's really a shame though that nobody, that I know of, has picked up the P-40Q... With the proposed 4x20mm, it would have become a superior gun platform again. I shouldn't talk though since that's not what I'm going to pick as my first project.
after reviewing Bees post it seems the visual model might be off just a tad.
The P-40 is fine flight wise, but one thing that i always question is the dm. Part of the reason it underperformed against 109s and Spits is because it was made of steel. It had a steel frame and steel skin. It was a heavy little plane, which really made it one of the tougher planes for combat during that time. I just don't get that impression flying it. I think out of all the planes i fly, i get PK'd the most in the P-40, which also seems weird considering that i practically get eaten alive with a heavy dousing of machine gun fire in a 109 and i can still fly only slightly wounded. Its just my observation now that i've started flying 109s more.
Its as though the P-40 pilot is modeled with a larger head shot area than other planes, because i rarely ever just get wounded. Its either a miss or a black screen.
So i just wonder more about the mechanics going on there.
I enjoy the P-40 but for me, this PK thing makes me turn to other planes first.
There was also some discussion some weeks ago about how Oleg didn't model real life pilot damage because it would be too easy to die, and no one would play.
Someone suggested making a mod that could introduce realistic pilot vulnerability.
I think more 109 as well as other light aircraft pilots would die sooner, and maybe be more inline with how pilot kills occur in other planes like the P-40.
