Found a problem with Spitfire VIII

Hi there, In UI 1.2 there is now the added spitfire VIII FB, FB CW, HF and 25 lbs. I was wondering why they all kept overheating within about 5 mins of full power during a dogfight while the original VIII and VIII CW were fine for a much longer time...

If you look closely the Radiator flaps which in real life and also detailed in the game are thermostatically controlled therefore no player/pilot intervention. They don't open at all on the new VIII's that were added to 1.2..

Just thought I would bring that to the proper peoples attention so we can maybe have it fixed in the next UI or in a new buttons file(not sure if its FM related)

My history teacher(long time ago) told me that the Spitfire mark VIII had an thermostaticly operated radiator(don't know about how he knows it, but i checked it, and it's rightBig Grin)
It would be very nice to see this in an Update for this planeSmile

I had the same problem, but did not know what it was.
Fly around for a short time and OVERHEAT.

I think all spits after mark V or VII not positive, but VIII, IX ....anything after had thermostatically controlled radiator flaps Smile Same as a car, when it reaches a certain temperature they are opened more.....but on a car its open or closed.

I think they should give in a manual radiator and just keep it on Auto

i sended my history teacher how he got that info, appears somebody in his family was in the Polish RAF Squadron, who had spitfires Smile
i also asked for pictures of that relative, and he will search them for me, and then all the Modders at AAA have reverence material for Polish Spitfire(like skins).

Nice, my best friends grandfather flew Spit Vc's in Africa and Spit MK IXc's in Italy for 241 squadron RAF. He was RCAF but was transferred over to 241 squadron. We only have 1 pic of his airplane he is leaning against the wing with his ground crew. You can see its RZ Q but we cant see the serial number since the horizontal stab and elevator are in the way. He sadly passed away before I could meet him to ask him some question or maybe get more pictures.

the brother of my grandfather fought as a Dutch Pilot in the Luftwaffe, i don't know what Geschwader it was sadlySad but he was a high ranked waist/tail gunner, his plane was shot on a raid against london, one of the first to fall Sad (there is the reason why i got so much interest in the Luftwaffe, my nephew got a helmet of the Luftwaffe, with all the markings still intact, maybe i can take a picture of it, and how it to you allSmile)
