Conf.ini ?
#1

Howdy,

I finally got around to "upgrading" my AAA version 1.0 all the way to 1.2...and I followed all the great instructions and they worked really well....

Can I copy my Conf.ini file from 1.0 and paste it into 1.2 ? Will it cause any problems? Will I be able to keep all my button assignments and flight controls if I do this?

Is there any other file or folder, other than skins, that I should copy?

Many Thanx,

yeah, you can, no problem. I certainly did. You can save off the new one, and copy your old one over... if for some crazy reason you have trouble, you can always put it back.

The folder that is called "user" that is in your root IL-2 folder is the folder with the button assignment settings.ini
If you have customized your control settings then you may want to save this folder.It has Campaign settings.ini also in case you wish to save your missions folder.

When doing a fresh install/mod install or any major changes to the game, and just to keep all my personal settings I always back up the following files:

* conf.ini (game render/joystick/FMB+ settings)
* Users folder (pilot/campaign info etc.)
* i18n (I have modified the ingame messages such as "Beebop has been rescued by the resistance" instead of "Beebop has beed captured") Big Grin
* rcu file (I have icon scripts, air racing starter scripts etc. stored there)
* Records file (all my .ntrk's and .trk files plus my skinning test missions. Nice for easily getting back favorite QMB missions)
* Quicks folder (for all the custom map QMB missions)

In addition I keep backups of my "MODS/mapmods" folder and my "MODS\STD" folder so I can keep all the maps I have installed and save the .ini files in the "STD" folder, especially those which contain custom trains, vehicle columns and objects. That way I can just move my installed mod folders into the MODS folder and keep all the stuff I worked so hard to get working.

That way I can easily keep the same basic stuff from game to game.
