i know there are some real pros when it comes to mods, especially the visual effects.
I was recently messing around with some oil spatter, and i ran into some limitations with the animation already known about.
I noticed that the canopy glass actually doesn't have its own eff file, but instead runs off the mesh from a damage lod i'm guessing.
The idea of creating an eff for canopy glass could open up the possibility to not only expand on the oil splatter animations but you could also add more detail to other animations.
I even had a thought for making animations of water condensation above certain altitudes.
Might look a bit like this,
I'm not sure how much work is involved for modding this kind of effect into the game, but just having an eff that could allow the texures to be fitted over the canapies, it seems like it could be possible, no?
Maybe its too much work for one or two people. I thought about mods where separate mesh files and texures are involved for each plane.
It seems the work load gets pretty high considering the amount of variants there are for some planes, though most Spitfires for example, use the same cockpit.
Anyway, I would think a group of 5 or 10 people could tackle 2 or 3 planes each and then you'd have at least the more popular planes covered.
I'm not sure how complex it is to even add eff files, but retooling the mesh files seems like a big headache to me.
any other thoughts?
