I was wondering if this was possible and would mods still work?
If you mean copying the complete Ubi folder onto an external HDD then copying that folder into another computer....yes it would run OK
What about just running it off of a cd? To save space? Or can one just take the game and compress it like with other games?(like Combat Arms which i don't play anymore)
I am just asking because the game is so slow the way it is right now, and it is slowing my computer down a bit. Would compressing it (right click the file, click properties, check "archive", click apply) make the game run faster? Combat Arms was really slow and laggy but compressing the game made it run faster.
If the sim is slow on your PC then the problem is probably your PC..
The only way to keep it fast is to stick to one-on-one combat. Once you add more and more planes and objects to a mission on a busy map the fastest computer available still struggles.
Yeah, I know it's the pc but who has that kind of money these days? That is why I am trying a different solution: one that is free or cost a small amount of money.
No, you are out of luck. Further, if you compress it, it takes a bunch of processor time to decompress it. Clearly, this is a deeper topic than we can cover here.. Suffice it to say, No, this will not work well on a low spec machine, and no, you can't compress it or run it off CD (even if technically possible, it will be a lot slower). Get a cheap external HD?
