Helicopters out of the question for WWII....? Really?

+many if it (or an earlier field mod etc) can be found to have relevance to WWII or Korea; +1 as it stands - if someone wants to make it, do it. Nobody's forced to download or use anything on this site. If someone wants it, someone makes it, and some people want to and get to fly it, and everyone has fun in the process then where's the harm been done?

Also, this generic Vietnam-bashing worries me a little bit. That the concept won't work so well within Il-2's game engine is kinda beside the point if people shout it down on principle. Don't get me wrong, I quite agree that there's plenty of holes still to fill in Il-2 itself before moving on, but surely it's better to have people try to get the impossible done than to scupper their plans from the start?

Look.. if someone wants to make it, and they do a fantastic job, they simply submit it through the correct channels, it will then be checked by the team and if there are no dramas it will be posted for down load.
The problem will be for many of the requested aircraft, in particular the modern type jet, there will be a limitation to what the game engine can support.
My advice is consistantly to tell people to go to Lock On, or other perfectly good modern jet sims and indulge in the modding community there, where your dreams can be fullfilled..
The chance of getting a functioning and accurate supersonic modern jet here will be extremely limited.

All I Stated was that It would be a good idea to put some GUNS on the c47 and make it a gunship!

I never said anything about creating helicopters or supersonic jet fighters all I asked it that maybe we could put a few guns on the C47! and make it a gunship!

Read my post.. I said if someone wants to make it they can go through the correct channels, it'll get checked and if its ok it'll be available for download.. I also answered the other posters requesting modern jets and why they are unlikely to be in the game.. Why? If someone wants to make a plane (I'm not talking about the requesters), who's place is it to decide that it shouldn't be allowed?

Don't get me wrong, if this forum has rules that need to be followed, then WW2 it is, but then you'll have to delete the WW1 forum and all of the KTO missions/maps/aircraft. I'm sure you'll also be deleting all of the people (modellers and downloaders) alike who don't want to be bound by such unnecessary rules. There's plenty of downloads here that I don't want, so I didn't download them. Easy.

The problem comes to what the came can and can't handle and what's being said is that if the AC-47 is made, then people will want aircraft from that era that the game can't handle like the F-100, F-104, F-105, or the F-4 or many others. The engine simply can't handle a plane that goes that fast and has that advanced avionics and weapons systems.

The only interesting thing in this thread is the bit about "general kenadey" (I can only assume Kenney) modifying C-47s into gunships during WWII. That is a rabbit hole worth diving down, but I can find nothing on this...

Well the point is that the ac47 can be done but if other planes like your suggesting are impossible then why would people ask besides even if they do keep asking just tell them it is impossible and they will just have to get over it.
