U.I 1.2 gun sounds and P47engine sounds
#1

Recently lost my manual mod game so started over and decided to use the UI 1.1 and 1.2. Replaced as much as I could but I have a few questions.: 1. Gun sounds seem very low--this is particularly so with regard to 303 and 50. and 2. The P47 outside the pit sound sounds odd. i.e. There seems no difference between full power and low and the sound itself just makes this beast sound like it is merely chugging along. If anyone has similar problems I would appreciate some info. I can live with the P.47 engine but the gun sounds are so weak I have to keep checking to see if I haven't run out of ammo

i can't say much about the engine sounds, but if the guns are too quiet then you can always go into the presets and change the value. The higher the value the bigger the priority. You might notice some sounds dim when other sounds are present, so this value setting will act as volume in most cases.
You can also adjust the SPL which dictates how far away the sound is heard, and it can also effect volume.

FYI- im not using those sounds and there are various 50 cal sound mods to try, including one i've built.
You can try it out, but be warned that most of my sounds are tuned down a bit. Its hard to mod sounds separately because everyone is using different sound set ups that also include other sound mods. On my config i'm able to get better bass with less distortion. More rumbles and booms, with no crackle. I tried to get it so every sound was leveled out for the best frequency response, which doesn't always equate to more volume. This is probably something only few people might appreciate. i'm not sure, but for me this is something i'm able to do for my own enjoyment and the results are great on my end. Its a shame they aren't as easily shared.

are the sound files actually where they should be?
seems obvious, but i thought i'd ask.

Do you have other aircraft or buttons files in use not originally inluded with UI1.2?
using other buttons can mess with the sounds, but i think they were trying to make UI more compatible other buttons form SAS.

did you download and install with out any corrupted files?

Tks Bill, the announcement about the new merge coming down has made me decide to just live with it. The changes (read rebuild) I have been at for a week are probably not worth it given the things that are promised in the new install. Again thank you for the info and download. By the way exactly which numbers do you play with in weapons. When I looked there were all kinds. Is it the infinite number? Mort

If you have windows like i do, just find the file in the "files" folder under "samples", right click it, then click record. a small box will appear with the frequency waves like a radio. This little tool allows you to increase or decrease, speed up and slow down the sound of any .wav file you please. Its a bit repetative, but worth it for those extra kicks in sound. I found some of the sounds to quiet myself, but the record tool does the trick.
