Hello all

I have a modified version of the game on my computer that i wish to keep unaltered.

I wish to install 1946 unmodified on the same computer.

When i try to load it i do not get the "install" option because my computer already has the game installed.

Is there someone out there who knows how to get around this problem?

How can i install the basic version of the game without having to uninstall the Moded version i already have loaded?

modified version 1946 change name . of file uninstall game reinstall . change name back

You can also copy the folder and install over the original.

What I did is I installed a clean version and patched to 4.08, burned it to a disc .
Then Installed it on an external hard drive. I have installed it from the burned copy many times both on external hard drive
and on the C drive using a folder of a different name.
such as "IL-2_v1.2"

So if i change my moded versions name to lets say Flyer 1.2 then go through the uninstall process the games regestery record will be wiped without wiping anthing in the modded game?

And when i reinstall the game it will be a fresh install.

Yep that will work.

Yes it will work ok like that,after you can create a shorcut to your ,exe in Flyer1.2 and then right click and select properties.Then look for the general tab. You can change the name of the shortcut to Flyer1,2,exe or whatever you want.Place new Flyer shortcut on desktop beside the stock install shorcut from new installation and you will have access to both modded and stock game.

Hi Madstar,

You have to make a copy of your game installation first.
If you save the copy to the same folder that your game is in, Windows will name the new copy "Copy of Il2 Sturmovic" and this copy wont be seen by the uninstall process.
Then uninstall the game and when you are finished, install it fresh.
Now you will have your modded version and a new clean install too.
