Oh NO, God NOOOOO! Back from long hiatus....
#1

Hi everybody!

Last time I took a long break from IL2 in 2007, I came back to find that this wonderful site had come into existence, and immediately started adding mods like crazy--hundreds at last count. But after overdosing for a year and a half...way too many hours of my free time obsessed with flying, making missions, etc... I took another 11 months off to detox and pursue other things

So I decided to come back and what a change! 409-official, UI 1.1, 1.2, 1.25, and the SAS site. What's a fella to do with this embarassment of riches? :? I have 409b mod with a lot of mods by manual install. I have been trying to follow all these new developments on the various threads here, but can anyone give me some advice or recommendations on how to proceed from here on. It seems this thread has good advice, but maybe there are others?

(The link is inoperative)

I figure I will keep my current install and do a separate, clean 409-official install, and hope I can figure out how to add mods to that eventually. With the 409beta install I have already, can I just add the Universal Installer 1.1/1.2/1.2a or will it screw up the mods I already have? And even if it doesn't screw them up, can I add mods manually without using the installer for some older mods I have that don't come with the various installer versions?

Finally, can I add SAS stuff to the 409beta if I have the UI mod insatlled?

Any other suggestions, tips, etc. regarding how to proceed with all this new stuff?

One final question. Has anyone come up with an AI mod that makes low level torpedo and ground attacks work more realistically. I didn't find any mods for that, but I'm still trying to take in all I missed over the last 11 months.

Thanks to anybody who can help out. And thanks to all the great modders out there. You are fantastic!

It's good to be back!

Quote from hsfx

[Torpedoes have to be dropped from realistic heights and at realistic speeds and have to run through the water for
a certain time to arm.

Bombs have to fly for a minimum of 2.5 seconds to arm. They also suffer from dispersion, the greater the height
the more pronounced this becomes.

not sure if posting links here ok but im sure you will find it. Smile

Welcome back Saunders!

I'm in a non-flying status too and have been for some time due to other demands, but the goodies around here now are certainly nothing to snigger at. Early next year for me I hope (fingers crossed tightly). Enjoy your flying again!

One of the most significant mods has been the MDS (Moving Dogfight Server) mod...and the latest version 1.0 in the UltraPack (which includes HSFX) has Rearming/Refuelling/Repair..... plus there are moving and firing Infantry

Being off-line is no problem as we can run Dogfight missions at home and have the option to refly and rejoin the same mission still in progress.... or the R/R/R function also works in Single/Coop missions as well..... as does the new radar functions.

Hi FNutty, thanks for the welcome and I hope you get back soon, too.

fabianfred, thanks for that piece of information. Man, that sounds great! I always sort of wondered if I could fly in a server "offline".
