Ok I didnt know where else to put this, im new and didnt see a general topic section. Anyways I was thinking of gettin 1946 from steam since its really fast, and I dont have to worry about losing CDs, but I was wondering if anyone has had problems with it. I wanna get mods for it and stuff and play online so I wanna make sure I can do that with the steam version of it, and make sure I dont get 1946 and then 2 months from now everyones on Birds of Prey. Any help appreciated so thanks in advance!

My game is 1946 Steam.
The only two things are...
After the download completes, you need to move the entire directory il 2 sturmovik 1946 inside the Steam directory to another place.
Then you search in google, download and copy the nocd il2fb.exe and il2setup.exe in the same directory.

Then you do the same like everybody does:
Download and install the update 4.08m.
Download here and install the UI 1.1, patch UI 1.1.1 and finally UI 1.2.
Wow!
I think this is all.

Thanks, just wondering though if the UI is totally needed, I started the first two download parts and it took forever. Plus if they are all 250mb like those it will take up alot of space.
