(Request) Ground units.

As part of creating atmosphere I love to make ground battles along with my missions. A ground attack mission is more fun and intense when there is an actual battle going on instead of just a few tanks parked in the snow.

I'd love to see more tanks, artillery and vehicles of UK and USA origin from earlier. There is almost no UK artillery, tanks or anti-tank guns and vehicles and the same goes for USA.

These would be great to accompany all the new maps being made like North Africa, DDay, BoF, BoB etc. I'm hoping to make some North Africa missions and it would be nice to have British and German vehicles / tanks / guns from that time period (40-43) for use.

I hope some of you out there can and are willing to help us mission builders out!

I agree with that, generaly speaking the game is poor in vehicles of all kinds, and the existing ones are very simple in design except the last ones issued in IL 2 46 (Gaz 55 series and Sdkfz 6&10).
This is more and more obvious as the level of all over objects is raising high standards in design.
Consequently this high standard reached in maps and objects, shows the hudge gap between these and all vehicles.
Exemple: put a studebaker truck along one of LAL RONE's Hangars......

I never got the concept of strafing running little men...

nonetheless, Paulo:
any moving vehicle is equipped with this feature, if you strafe a (moving) column, the crew starts running. this i nothing to be implemented especially by the mission builder but a game feature.

I agree, there is a lack of ground activity. This may have been deliberate as the more animation you have, the more stress it puts on the CPU and when Il2 was developed computers were very slow compared to the computers of today.

Is there anyone out there willing and able to do this? I'm more than willing to help collect information on different ground units such as types, technical data, and pictures for anyone who will work on this.

I'm bumping my post. It's been a while and I'm wondering if anyone is willing to do this. I like to make missions and with the new maps there's a lack of allied ground units. It's not fitting to use eastern (soviet) ground units in north africa, italy, normandy etc, for representing allied ground units. I hope someone is willing to begin work on this. Again I'm willing to research and provide photographs, technical details, etc.
