WIP - F86 NMF texture
#1

I thought you all might like to see this...

Since "photo-realistic" seems to be the buzz word lately, I figured I try my hand at creating a new texture for the Sabre. I cobbled together a hybrid template of HH_Blaze, Peter_D and US-Grant's work and built the NMF layers up from Blaze's base metal set. Here are some pics. Please note that Avala's Plane Shine Mod was disabled for these screenshots...these were taken with Oleg lighting:

I'm looking into some references to create a new mech set for the F86, much like what I did with my F4U v 2 temp...

Let me know what you all think.

Cheers,

KC

@ US_Grant - Cheers man...glad you like it  Sure, I can make it available to anyone who wants it...either here or at M4T or SAS. I'm not picky about sharing my work. I'll have to condense the metal layers down a little bit so it's GIMP and PaintSHopPro friendly....I'm using Photoshop 7. I'm thinking I'll release it as an "add-on" package for the current templates out there...we have three or four very good temps already, so it just makes sense to do it that way. I'm still adding some 3D "enhancement" layers to the template, and the top wings need a little more work as well. Once the mechs, metal and enhancer sets are done, I'll upload it for everybody to play with

If you, PeterD, and HH_Blaze are cool with it...I could release the entire template, not just the add-on metal and mechs. It includes some of all your guys work. Just need everybody's permission first... Big Grin

KC

I'd love to have the whole template. I can add it to may collection. My motto is "the more layers the better."

Looks awesome Casey, I have no problem with you releasing this revised template. Sorry for late reply, I've been out of town.
Currently in the works: MiG-15(bis) template.

Cheers guys...thanks for the quick responses and for your permission to upload/distribute the temp when it's completed. This might sound like a rant, but it really isn't...just wanted to clarify why I asked you all first...

I've noticed a lot of talk of uploading templates in other posts...with other people's work included in it. Not sure if everybody is aware that it's good form to contact the original authors to get their permission to include their work in a publicly distributed template. Maybe I'm old-fashioned that way, but it's more than just a courtesy in my mind. Most template makers are cool with just being credited for their work, others want to be contacted first...that kind of stuff is usually included in the "Read Me" file. One of my favorite skinners and good friends actually quit skinning for the public completely because of his work getting used and distributed...and not being credited for his work in all instances. He had a "contact me if you want to use it your own work" clause in his "Read Me", and in a lot of cases it was ignored. He ended up pulling all of his templates, skins, screenshot art etc...off the public boards. By and large, the community lost one of the most innovative and talented skinners for IL2...not to mention an all around nice guy. If you know me, and you know who my pals are, then it should be obvious who I'm talking about...

@ HH_Blaze: MiG-15 template sounds great man...post some WIP pics when you think it's ready to show. I'd like to see how she's coming along Big Grin

Should have new screenshots of the F86 WIP template later today...adding some panel variation to the NMF and more bits 'n' bobs.

Cheers,

KC

I've released 2 beta versions of skins made with the template...dull and polished finishes. Here's a link to the thread at M4T...

Please feel free to comment here or at the M4T boards. Looking at ways to improve the textures/template further.

Cheers fellas!
