[Mod Request] Invisible Stationary Target
#1

Hi all,

Apologies if this has been asked for already, I couldn't find it in the search. I was hoping someone could make an invisible stationary object for targeting the AI in FMB. This would let mission builders get the AI to attack things like runways, or rail-lines, or just attack an area (or ground troops) without having an object or vehicle present.

In Korea the USAF spent a lot of time cutting rail lines and roads with bombs, so this might be a good way to simulate that.

Thanks,

CY6.

Doesn't the "Destroy Ground" target serve this purpose already?

+1 for this idea, it make a good way being able to get points as a heavy bomber pilot in an online co-op or dogfight as bothe heavys normally where asigned to destroy whole factorys, railyards, ports, ect and this could be a way to get points for destorying buildings instead of having to put vehicles in or in the case of bridges under them.

You could just clone an object from the static.ini and then remove the alpha layer of the skin for that object.
I don't see any reason it wouldn't work.

Easy

The destroy ground target just tells the game to give the player points for everything destroyed in a certain radius. The AI doesn't care about targets, only objects. The idea here is to give mission builders an invisible object that the AI can be assigned to attack.

To assign an object as an aircraft target is has to be in the "stationary object" list, which means it needs a class file, so that the mission builder can assign it a "red" or "blue" side. Regular static objects can't be assigned as targets.

Use the "GATTACK" command in the way points menu but don't put down any "Destroy" or "Destroy Ground" targets, that way there drop bombs on that way point. But I think you want them todo more then that, what think your getting at is you want the AI to strafe an area ie; trenches with out having to put in Amour ect... Is that right?
