The cockpits of the P-38 Lightning versions didn't change all that dramatically during the war. So, of course, using the one 'pit for all the models we have , makes sense.
One minor mod would be great, though, to give you the feeling that you are flying different variants of the airplane...the early style, wheel type yoke, used on all of the Lightnings that came before the "J" model.
These earlier versions of the plane had a wheel that was more like the type seen in transports and bombers than fighter aircraft. Suggestions from pilots in the field caused Lockheed to replace the old yoke with the bowtie shaped type with fighter style grips on each end. The later "J" and "L" models had the new yoke.
With the way you guys at AAA can turn out new planes and maps, I would think this would be something that could be done pretty quickly. And, although a small mod, would really give you the feeling you were in one of the early P-38s.
Hope someone likes the idea enough to try it.
