I know that manual ranging would be lost, but it is not too much of an issue if you are using auto ranging from the sight , still, it could be made to let you use manual ranging if you are not using the auto sight, or if the auto sight breaks?

No need to lock enemy aircrafts in any automated mode anymore.

But note, in padlock sight is able to autorange fiendly and foe targets, including ground targets.
