HSFX - change back to default IL-2 prop textures?
#1

I posted this yesterday over at SimHQ but thought I might get additional input on this board:

First up, I would like to thank everyone involved in putting together the HSFX pack. Having been involved in the the modding of SDOE back in the day I appreciate the massive effort involved.

I have one gripe however, which is the changed prop textures. Personally, I find them distracting and unrealistic when compared to my own experiences of flying in the co-pilot's seat in a number of light aircraft including period planes such as the Chipmunk and Tigermoth. Is there any way to reverse it out/overwrite it so that I can get the original IL-2 textures back?

go in your mod folder and look for the Prop texture name and delete it or just put "-" with out the quotes

HSFX does not use the Mods folder, it uses JSGME which makes it harder to delete a specific mod.

You can add any mod you want.
Just create a folder named Mods and add any mod there just like in UI 1.1.

Yardstick, do a search here for a mod called "vas_prop_mod" - there are several versions, the one with the light gray disk looks the most like the default prop effect, and looks much more realistic than the HSFX prop texture IMHO.
Just download it, unzip it and drop it into your game's mods directory. When the game loads it looks for what is in that folder first and will use it in preference to what is in the game's own files.
Not a return to the default, but better than what we have in HSFX.

Thanks Murph I will give it a go.

Any one got a link pls? I've tried search, scanned back through the mods folder and googled for it but drawn a blank.

Here Arrow viewtopic.php?t=15056

And my animated propeller mod Arrow viewtopic.php?t=13916

I don't know if they are compatible with HSFX ( they worked well with 4.09b) or not but you can give it a try!
