I recently downloaded HSFX 4.0 over a clean install of 4.09m, and now my game crashes at 20% loaded. I know a crash at 60% is a mismatch between the air.ini and buttons files, but I haven't heard of a crash at 20% before, so any help with this would be appreciated.
20% CTD on a fresh install...hmmm...not very common.
I've read that 20% CTD is bad java file, so, maybe the only solution will be reinstall.
What mods did you enable in the JSGME?
When I try to run the game with no separate Mods enabled in the JSGME it always crashes at 20%, but setting the JSGME to 4.09m(mods off) allows me to run the game, so I suppose it must be a Java code error in the HSFX download.
I checked out the SAS link but the link on that site for a tool that checks for Java conflicts seems to have been taken down, so I guess I will have to try getting the HSFX files from a different set of download links and installing again.

Out of habit I have done the same thing
Make sure you use JSGME then select "Hsfx history mod" and enable it by moving it to the right. Once that works, move other mods to the right.
