Windows 7. Who is running it? Should I?
#1

I am trying to figure out if the move to Win7 is worth the trouble. Will IL2 run? I know there are drivers for my Logitech G940. There are also Nvidia drivers out. But how about TIR?
My main concern is to be able to run 4gig or more of DDR3. Any advise will be appreciated.

im running the RC at the moment and its very good... I love it; everything is running! I installed it in Dualboot with WinXP Sp3.... I just use the drivers of WinXp without problems, I have still the same graphic drivers from XP. Even my Software of my X52 works perfectly...
In things like TES: Oblivion I have increased performance, also in ARMA II, and many other games

i've been running it for a while. i love it. much better than vista (in both features and speed). you will not have any problems with drivers in win7. it's pretty good about that. i don't think i've even had to download any for anything yet. they are all on there! the only thing i don't like about 7 is the user account control BS. you have to fight with it sometimes to let you change files. just dont install anything into your program files folders and youll be set! I have a dual boot XP/Win7 with a i7 975, 12 GB RAM (XP only sees 4 GB), ATI 4890 and multiple HD's where I load my games. I got Win7 just to test my games and the effects that I would have to overcome in the future.

When I play IL-2 on the Win7 side, there is zero difference in FPS using the same scenario as a test from the XP side. The biggest headache so far on the Win7 side has been the "Uncle Bill" nanny attititude of admistrator privilages versus doing what I want on the XP side.

i have windows 7 64-bit and i'm very content with it. Il-2 runs also without any problems on it, as does every other installed game (even the older ones). Hopes this help you? i have 4 GB Ram DDR3 with a nVidia GTX260 and an i5/750 processor

Windows 7, 32bit, had it since it came out. No problems, whatsoever. Hardware is Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UP4P mb, Phenom II X3 720BE, 4GB A-Data ram, ASUS EAH5770 video card, couple of hard drives, 550W Corsair PSU, etc. No driver problems. I let Win 7 do it's thing when I did the "in Place" upgrade, and everything I had was compatible, although it informed me I should update the Catalyst driver. I had a 4850 card then.

IL2 1946 runs as well as it did on XP and Vista before.

Win 7 64 bit...no troubles at all. Install IL2 into either the Games folder or Program Files (x86) folder...not in regular Program Files. Installing into the regular Program Files on your hard drive will cause you problems, as in not being able to edit your config.ini file. Just be sure to give yourself full admin rights when you set up Win 7.

Also, to avoid some of the "nanny" issues that occur...disable the UAC. Avoids having to deal with all the "Do you really want to do this?" pop up messages.

For once, Micro$oft gave the public an OS that works without major buggery issues at release.

Cheers,

Disabling UAC is not recommended. Rather, install IL2 into a new folder like "c:\programs" or something like that, outside of any program files folder, and it won't give u any problems.
