A Desperate Plea for Assistance
#1

A few days ago my computer started running slow. It said I was low on memory so I manually uninstalled 1 of 2 copies of IL-2 I had installed. Now when I run IL-2 I get "The instruction at '0x10020a57' referenced memory at '0x12aa7640'. The memory could not be 'read'." Click okay to terminate the program.

I've reinstalled several times and ran disk check. I also ran a very basic registry cleaner. I don't know what else to try. I'm getting pretty desperate.

Does anyone here have any ideas? Thank you for absolutely ANYTHING you can tell me.

EDT: I'm running HSFX 4.1

EDT: Problem solved. I disabled the 02 Zuti DSMod

XP, Vista or W7 ?

How much free space did/do you have on your hard drive(s) ?

How much physical RAM? - and how much Virtual memory assigned?

It may be worth using http://www.memtest.org/ to test your RAM.

And for a general system and Windows cleanup - http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html

I am no computer genious , but from what it looks like what you said, it needs "more memory".
Get that computer of yours more memory ram. Buy a new chip set with at least 2 or more memory ram.
According to the new HSFX 4.1, its got ALOT of stuff in there and some of the maps are so big and full
with stuff that it might be making your PC slow down a bit.
Well, that is just my thoughts, might be something else completely diferent tho.

Had this problem too. I had ZloyPetrushkO_DropBombmod_v2 in Mods. After deleting it, it works.

You seem experienced in this. I'll try your advice first.

You might also try using the new modded exe files for Il-2:

Read the posts there carefully of course.

"memory could not be read" errors aren't usually RAM related, they're usually caused by poor resource allocation in windows. They crop up in Il-2 when you have a bad or conflicting hashfile somewhere. Try disabling (add "-" in front of...) your "MODS" and "Files" folder and using only the base install of il-2.

Also try disabling any background programs, as these can sometimes cause a conflict.

I've had this problem a few times, and it's usually either a program running in the background causing it, or the last mod I installed conflicting with another.

Good luck.
